Mullions, also known as partitions between glass panes are a common feature in traditional multi-pane windows. Historically, they were used to help support and separate large sheets of glass. Today, they are an attractive and stylish element that can give an elegant look to your home.

The sash is now ready to be glazed with new compound. The author is able to bed the sash with an easel that is made from scrap wood, securing it against the easel while forming the compound into the shape of a rabbet or groove around the pane's opening. The sash needs to dry for a minimum of two days before it can be put back together. The sash is then treated with a homemade wood preserver created from a mixture of mineral spirits and boiled oils from linseed. This will reduce the amount draughts and also improve the ability of the window to be shut and opened.

Drip caps are simple, virtually invisible caps that channel rainwater away from window frames during a storm. They are typically made from wood but can also be made from bricks or other types of masonry. Some drip caps are designed to be attractive some are more utilitarian. The drip cap should be secured to the sheathing around a window at least an inch away from trim board, and then slope away from window.
