If you're reading this, you came here from me (Zetvue) or another person warning you about this.

TL;DR: IF YOU DIDN'T SCAN, LEAVE THE SERVER. IF YOU DID, SCROLL DOWN.

Here's the basic explanation on how this scam works:

Basically, you know how you'd be worried if someone accuses you for something you did not ever do?
You want to find out what you did, and try and correct it, saying "hey I didn;'t do this or that, this is fake"
This scam takes compromised accounts and sends people DMs with this, saying "Hey, I saw you send this girl dick pics! Join this server and check the channel, I'm not unblocking you until you explain to me what happened."
And when you join the server, you're given a fake verification check, which is basically you scanning the QR code with your mobile app,(somehow) looking past the warning saying "HEY, if this isn't your code, please DO NOT ACCEPT IT!" and then giving the scum access to your account.
That's basically how this works.

Yes, the message you received is plain fraud. It is a scam, especially if you never even did anything like this.
A normal person would just block you outright or DM you with images or links referring to an accusation against you. They would not say "hey join this server and then go to this channel", it's plain stupidity.

Oh, and no channels exist. They literally don't. YOU CANNOT GET VERIFIED.

If you scanned the QR code, here's what to do:

CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD. RIGHT. THE FUCK. NOW.

YES, IT BYPASSES 2FA. YOU ARE NOT SAFE WITH OR WITHOUT 2FA IF YOU SCANNED AND ALLOWED ACCESS.

Even if the QR code failed, still change it just for safety reassurance.
You have NO guarantee on when they might take control of your account. It's best to get it done and over with.
Changing your password will sign you off on all devices except the one you changed on, and it will also change your access token, lest they take that when compromising you.

Use 2FA.

The best, and only auth tool you should use (imo) is Authy. It's available for all platforms, including Linux if that's what you're into (lol).

Read over scam lists and be vigilant.

If it's bullshit/too good or bad to be true, it 100% is.

I recommend reading over this article by Discord. You can also search on Google or whatever search engine you use for discord scam lists and explanations on how to avoid each one.

How can you help others?

First off, SPREAD THE RENTRY/GIST AROUND! You've gotta get more people in-the-know about this! Share the link in your bio, status, twitter, whatever and get people in the know!

Second off, REPORT THE SERVER. Nothing's gonna happen if you simply wait around and do nothing. ACTIVELY REPORT IT, so discord can know and take down the server!
