A Brief History History Of Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the best ways to improve your equipment without relying on big-ticket drops or trade. This article will help you understand how to upgrade your items.
Upgrades to equipment provide an additional bonus to the item's base stats. This bonus scales according to the rarity and strength of the upgrade component.
Components
Upgrade components can make your armour and weapons stronger. They can be obtained by destroying enemies, finding them in item spheres or buying them from karma merchants. You can also salvage them from equipment that has the components or by using high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Unlike most other items upgrades aren't destroyed when they are removed from an item.
The main function of upgrade components is to enable an item to be upgraded but they also serve other purposes. They can be used to boost the value of an item that can be upgraded or they can be used to enhance the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can also be forged to provide extra bonuses. For instance, a specially crafted glyph will boost the chance of upgrading its target, while the boost upgrade can increase the attack or defense quality of a weapon or armor.
Selecting an upgrade template from the GUI will allow you to bind it to an item. It will display an upgrade component list that the item can be upgraded to. You can also use the workbench for selecting an upgrade template. In either scenario the item will be upgraded when enough upgrade components are gathered.
Each component is assigned an experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item can gain when upgraded using the component. Organic components, for example have a higher multiplier of experience than mechanical components. It is recommended to upgrade organic components first until you reach the next rank in the weapon or equipment, then switch to mechanical upgrades.
In addition to the multiplier for experience every item also has the maximum number of upgrades it can receive. The number of upgrades is determined by its upgradeable rank and the upgrade type of the upgradeable item. For example, the highest possible weapon upgrade is a weapon of tier 10. The most common weapon upgrade is a gun of tier 6 and an armor upgrade of tier 5.
Sets
A set is a collection of objects that share the same bonus. Each item can be upgraded at the minimum once. The upgrade boosts the amount of bonuses you can expect to receive. The first time you upgrade an item or set piece is that it will be given an increase of +1 to its primary stat. After subsequent upgrades, the primary stats will be increased a bit more (for example, +1 up to 12+/13+/14+), and each time you upgrade the item it will have one of its additional stats is increased randomly.
Upgrades can also increase the damage base of a weapon. This could be crucial for certain builds. Weapons aren't upgraded to give an increased maximum defence roll than their base. It is a good method to increase the value of a set and unique items, however it's important to remember that they might not be better than a high-level runeword in any build.
If the item you're upgrading has a guaranteed bonus it is able to be rerolled a few times and the guarantee will reset to 0. The same power dies are used to reroll an item, just as it would be to upgrade it. However the new item comes with different bonuses. Upgrades can be completed through the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will need a power die of each kind (Dice 4 or 6 drop from monsters 21+ and Giants; Dice 7 drops from bosses) and the appropriate amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be purchased by using Gold at the crafting table or in the Ultra Collection. NPCs also offer special rewards for each completed level of the upgrade process. This reward is rerollable once and the reroll will use the same materials as the first item.
Rerolling
If the player has enough tokens for rerolling, they can play rerolling any item they have acquired during the game. When an item is rerolled it will be replaced with the same level in another set. Reroll tokens are available at the store for a small amount of in-game currency. They are non-refundable. The new item upgraded will have the same bonuses of the original one, but its stats will be different as well.
Players can alter the identification of equipment in addition to rerolling it by interacting with an NPC upgrader. This will change the identity from an armor to a weapon or vice versa, all the while maintaining its base stats and required attributes. The change is permanent and will affect all characters who have the gear in question.
The player can also upgrade their level of an item for any equipment that is equipped. This is done by engaging with an upgrader NPC, and then obtaining upgrade components. This will cost a certain number of crests and Valorstones according to the upgrade track and the item type. Each step will give 5% more damage to weapons.
Upgrades can increase the power of an item, however they also decrease the quality of an item. It is therefore important to strike a balance between the two. Certain items might not be worth upgrading at all and some will require to be upgraded in order to maximize their potential. For example, a player might want to upgrade a piece of breakpoint armor that comes with an interesting modifier (% chance to block or FHR) to explore the possibilities of what it can become.
Rerolling is a standard practice in Genshin Impact and other gacha-based games. It is a method used by players in order to get the character or weapon that they wouldn't otherwise have. These items are time-consuming and costly to acquire and the RNG isn't always a good fit. The only options are to spend real cash or grind a lot. Rerolling is a popular feature in Genshin Impact.
Leveling
When upgrading an item, you can pick to upgrade the weapon or armor. This feature is not available in the current version of the game. I think this feature was created to give value to rare and expensive items. However, since most equipment is replaced quickly and can only be upgraded one level, you'll typically replace it before it becomes too old. It's not worth upgrading items using gem sockets, as the power of the gemstone will outweigh any increment in ilvl.
You will see a small box when you click on the upgrade option for an item. It will display the template of the item, the crest, and the cost for Valorstone to raise the item's level. Weapons and armor will have different costs, with the former typically being more costly. The upgrade template outlines the stats that will be added to an upgraded item and also the current ilvl.
The cost of the Valorstone and the crest is calculated based on the current Ilvl of the item and the upgrade templates. The ilvl will also be reduced by the upgrade template's reduction percentage of lvl. For example an upgrade of 8% can reduce the ilvl of a weapon by 8 to 8%.
The item will be upgraded to other stats, like critical strike damage, PvE damage, and block, parry, and dodge rating in addition to the base level. Those increases are also based on the upgrade template.
The amount of damage and defense that the item receives as it gets leveled up can be seen below the cost and upgrade decrease percentages in the upgrade template window. All armor and weapons that are not practice equipment gain these stats upon leveling up. The value of these additional stats will be dictated by the market, with a perfectly perfectly rolled piece of armor or weapon can command significantly more trade value than non-upp'd versions. This is also true for other pieces of armor, such as tiaras and circlets.
