Alice's AOTY Rating Distribution, explained in excessive detail
100
Practically perfect. Generally speaking, the albums that I have rated as 100's are pieces where everything is exactly the way I want it, and I would not change anything about it - or if I would want to change anything, it would be an extremely tiny change that does not affect the release in any major way and probably wouldn't be noticed by a lot of people.
Most of my 100's are albums that I also connect with emotionally. This helps, but is not required for me to give it the perfect score.
90-99
Amazing albums, masterclasses in their niche. What separates them from 100's is that they usually have more noticeable dips in quality. They're still outstanding works and my all-time favorites, just not as perfect.
80-89
Great albums, ones that stand out among others in their genre. Anything at or above this range, I consider to be must-hear for the genre and my music taste, 100%.
75-79
Really good records, ones that also stand out but not as much or they have more glaring flaws. I would still consider some of them must listens.
70-74
Records that are simply good, or above average. The vast, VAST majority of things I review falls into this category and the next two ones. The farther a release is from 70 points and the closer it is to 75, the more remarkable I found it.
65-69
Decent albums, those that don't do anything wrong but don't stand out enough for me to warrant a re-listen.
60-64
Average in most ways. Nothing good, nothing bad. Anything below this score I consider to be flawed in a way that's significant enough to hinder the work.
50-59
Mid. If a release makes me bored, but I can hear some good ideas in there, it will likely end up in this range.
40-49
The breaking point, where I officially start to consider a record "bad". Either it's so boring that I want to end it early, or it's just unpleasant to listen.
30-39
Everything I said in the previous range, but amplified to produce an even more asinine listening experience.
20-29
Unlistenable. I am truly happy that I never have to listen to any of these ever again.
10-19
Music is obviously a subjective hobby, but these are the albums that I consider to be objectively flawed - they're that bad.
1-9
An embarrassment to basically every other music album. A truly atrocious work that does not deserve your time in any way.

Reserved for the worst of the worst. These albums should not exist. The world would be a better place if this music was never existed, and humanity should act like it does not exist.
