i like blocktales a lot

hello david baszucki aka builderman!
chapter 3 rambling, dont read if you havent
played the third chapter of blocktales!

if you couldn't tell, owned by lucilio (or mischyfio)
not finished it's 2 am, i'll come back to this whenever
i have thoughts and don't wanna bother my friends with
them

kyoko has to be the sweetest character yet, the care she has for the hero is so incredibly heartwarming and quite honestly made me tear up. a lot of people don't really think about the character they're playing and all the trauma they must've been through. they've killed people, watched others be so consumed by fear and greed that it turns them to do the most awful things like stealing an sfoth sword.

to be fair, this started off as a silly little adventure game inspired by earthbound, i don't think anyone expected it to be so emotionally scarring like wdym im crying at chapter two's ending because brad was so blinded by greed and manipulated by the voices he couldnt see the pain he was causing his father

when i saw the jason/slasher on the front, i groaned a little. i was so sick of these copies (combat initiation, untitled tag game) but i think slasher not being the final boss was amazing. it got me so excited and giddy because it's such a great part on the dev's parts. i've seen a lot of people complain that they hated slasher was too easy, that he wasn't a true boss, "why was he on the banner and thumbnail?", "he had so little screentime!" and i get it, but seeing the consequences the swords had on the hero was so satisfying. very rarely does a game have such a great story. and some will say it's unexpected, but i wouldn't say it's entirely out of nowhere. we can see the effect the swords had on others such as cruel king and griefer so why wouldn't it affect the hero? it's unexpected but delivered so perfectly.

and thar's not to say slasher is a bad boss, sure he's a bit underwhelming, his theme is the same as green/purple's (?) but we'll probably be seeing more of him in future chapters. before he went back into the coffin, he made a motion that was adjacent to 'i'm keeping an eye on you'. he didn't die, just fled. i've also seen theories that slasher is brad, but i don't know if that holds any truth. sure the two may have glowing red eyes but kitchen wizard said that slasher is a bodyguard of the ghostwalker. we don't know how much time happens between chapters but brad would most likely be recovering and reversing from bubonic plant with his father.

no one could EVER make me hate fear. the idea of fear being fearful and not being feared? love it. the way they're so desperate to be alive, how they watched the hero kill the other emotions, imagine how terrified they must've been. fear begged us to stop, pleaded with us to stop walking down this path, for the better of the hero and themselves. fear was just trying to save us, just like how it does in real life. fear is a necessary emotion, it keeps us safe, alive, teaches us to be scared and cautious, what's dangerous and what's not, it gives us survival instincts. fear tried everything in their power to keep you safe. the way fear was portrayed has me aggressively throwing my blankets around as i roll around in bed like a bug stuck on their back.

we were manipulated by hatred to get rid of fear, but i don't know if this is a good thing. fear is a survival instinct, if it's gone, what will we fear? sure, avarice, isolation and terror may be the extreme versions of the emotions we faught but we don't exactly know if we got rid of the emotions entirely or just moderated them so they're more tame.
