Peak Field Effects
Top tier field effects imo.
Mountain: First, I'll start off by saying that this is up here because of earlier an version of rejuv, where Field effects were a lot more dynamic and changeable. This field could go into so many other fields, then some of those fields could go into other fields, it was kino as fuck and I will never forgive Jan for taking that away. It's still pretty good in recent versions, but it will never be able to top what they were back then
Grassy Terrain: Probably the easiest field to set up thanks to a lot of early mons getting it by level up. It doesn't fuck over types that would be able to deal with it (just ~5 moves between Ground and Water), and it's not terribly strong, unless you're a fire type, but then you've likely changed the field to Burning already kek
Misty Terrain: Similar to Grassy, it's easy to set up, not opressive at all (unless you're running a dragon mono, but then you can get rid of it with twister), and it blocks status faggotry, which is great
Pretty fun
Almost always either fun, or really easy to turn on the opponent.
Snowy Mountain: Mountain, but with ice faggotry on top of it, and I enjoy ice types. Was the field I built my reborn postgame team around to fuck with the battle pavilion shit
Electric Terrain: Surge abilities make the terrains really easy to use. Also doesn't really fuck over other types just for being on the field
Burning Field: It's trivially easy to turn this against bosses thanks to the sheer boosts mons like Typhlosion gets thanks to Flash Fire. It's also really easy to create if you want to play the game using it
Dragon's Den: Again, very easy to turn this against bosses if you have Dragon Dance. Otherwise pretty annoying once you start dealing with some of the more niche effects like shed skin
Volcanic Top Field: Mountain, but built for Eruption spam basically
Alright enough
Can be autistic, but usually not terrible.
Starless Streets: An actually somewhat interesting field revolving around Taunt. Pretty easy to either ignore or to take advantage of. Taunted mons dealing reduced damage is annoying, but there's an actual payoff to it when the taunted mon ko's something, which is interesting
Crystal Cavern: A pretty inoffensive field tbh. Nothing really faggot-y except maybe the Prism Armor damage reduction
Factory/Short Circuit: Pretty fun interaction between these. It's pretty fun to play tug of war with the AI tbh, especially if you can abuse both sides
Forest Field: Also pretty inoffensive, outside of the seed effect. More fun in reborn where you can change it to Burning field
Quiet Forest: Pretty decent earlygame field, nothing too autistic
Open Fields: The only really annoying thing is the Taunt effect at 1/3 HP
Mystical Grotto: Compared to the modder's other fields, this one's actually pretty okay for the most part. Can be annoying with the right amount of autism, but otherwise not too bad, considering you almost never fight on it, and even when you do, you can change it somewhat easily
City: Hustle and Bustle aside, hard to really judge because it's not used that often
Back alley: Basically city but even more rare
Concert Field: Yet another new field that's barely used at all, even less than the City fields
Mountain Crevasse: Not really annoying mainly because you only really fight on it earlygame where the powerlevel is way too low to make use of most of the autism
Polar Sanctuary: You barely get to fight on this field as of E11, so it's hard to really judge how autistic the recycleshit sounds in practice
Tropical Paradise: You literally never have to fight on it as of E11 kek. You CAN, but you don't have to, so I didn't, and I have no Idea what this does
Slightly annoying, but manageable
I don't hate fighting on these, but I usually don't enjoy fighting on them either. Basically the neutral tier
Starlight Arena: It's one of the more tuned Field effects, but it's usually not a terrible experience to fight on (V13 Intense Hazuki can fuck off though)
Superheated Field: The accuracyfaggotry is annoying, but it's almost always put to Burning field anyway, so whatever
Psychic Terrain: My least favorite of the Surge abilities. I really don't like the Telepathy speed boost or the anti priority
New World: I like it, but the Speed decrease is pretty retarded. Black Hole Eclipse nuking is very funny though
Darkness: Very fun to use with M-Mightyena and other abusers, but can be very annoying otherwise, especially for bosses that abuse the field
Blessed/Holy Field: Mostly fine, mainly because it's not used that much. E-Speed spammers are annoying though
Haunted Field: It's not too bad nowadays compared to previous versions, but 90% Hypnosis still isn't fun
Icy Field: Pretty inoffensive, but it's really easy to get sneeded by the seed effect
Cave: The collapsing thing is annoying, otherwise fine
Crimson Forest: Actually a very tame field in terms of Octavius' autism. The only REALLY annoying things are the 100% sleep powder accuracy and the poison chance on berry activation (really retarded btw)
Beach (Azure): More annoying because Arenite Wall is annoying rather than the field being annoying
Tundra: Another earlygame field. Can be annoying depending on starter choice.
Inverse Field: Doesn't really do anything other than invert type matchups and have an annoying seed effect
Volcanic Field: Infernal field lite, not terrible, but damage at the end of every turn is always annoying
Corrosive Mist: Poisoning every turn is kind of annoying, but it's not badly poisoned, so I don't mind it too much
Corrupted Cave: More Poisonfaggotry. There's not too many moves that can chage the field
Cave (Empire): inoffensive enough for an Octavius field tbh, the spread move thing seems annoying though
Murkwater Surface: Kind of annoying with the poison faggotry, but it's pretty easily changed to Water Surface/Icy Field
Dimensional Field: Not particularly terrible in it's current fights, but has the potential for a good bit of faggotry in the lategame
Cursed Field: Basically just old rejuv's Haunted field with a bit more autism I think. Dark types are neutral vs ghost because...it just is, okay
Rocky Field: The chip damage from shit like missing moves and getting flinched is annoying, but at least it can be gotten around by raising your defense
Rainbow Field: The random type to normal moves adds another layer of rng to bosses that use them. The 140 HP Sonicboom is also kind of annoying
Dance Floor: Take the Dancefaggotry from big top and put it in a field that boosts psychic moves and you have this field. Much more tolerable than big top
Ashen Beach: Accuracy drop faggotry, not putting it lower because it's not really prevalent in the field, but still fuck off for doing it
Sky Field: A LOT better than previous versions, partly thanks to Souta's OC move not constantly re-setting it, but it's still pretty tuned to Flying mons, but not to the point of fucking over it's counter types
Speed World: Priorityspam: the field. Could be REALLY annoying if Sword Sylveon didn't get E-Speed kek
Proving Grounds: You get a good bit of time to fight on it in E11, but I never knew what I was doing on it kek. Thinking about it, that can be said for a lot of empire's fields desu ne
Imperial Grounds: Very autistic, but most of it doesn't really come into play as of E11
Primordial Park: You don't really fight on it too much outside of one area
Museum: WAY more autism than I'm ever going to keep track of, even for Empire. You don't fight on it more than a couple of times either
Bad
These tend to not be fun, unless you can abuse them just as well, of not better than your opponents.
Frozen Dimensional Field: Dimensional Field, but more annoying, especially when fighting Angie thanks to her OC move restoring it when you burn it
Water Surface: If you remove the speed decrease, it's a much more tolerable field, but it's biggest problem is giving waterfags easy access to Underwater
Festival: Guaranteed Harvest activation and 100% sleep moves are annoying as hell
Wasteland: Hazard faggotry combined with random status bullshit isn't fun. Nuking the common ground moves' BP is also dumb
Swamp Field: The speed drop is really annoying for longer battles. Competitive/Defiant mons run fucking wild though, and that's fun
Crowd: The anti-sweep mechanic is very annoying, hope you like the enemy getting +3-4 in all of it's stats while trying to 6-0 autism
Dark Crystal Cavern: Lots of defense buffs and some damage reduction. Makes shit like Umbreon and Eviolite G-Corsola much more annoying
Corrosive: Damaging 15/18 types is annoying. Baneful Bunker seed is what pushes it down here though
Clouds: Sky field but worse basically. Nerfing electric and rock moves isn't fun, the Protect seed definitely isn't fun, and fuck off bouncing stealth rocks back to the user's field
Chess Field: I like the idea, but the chesspiece effects are pretty annoying
Big Top Arena: While retardedly strong, it's very easy to turn the field on bosses using Acrobatics/Dance moves. You're pretty fucked otherwise though
Ice Rink: Annoying as hell unless you get A-Sandshrew as a starter
Infernal Field: Typical field effect cringe, powers up 1 or 2 types, and makes their counters useless against them, along with the only way to change the field are legendary signature moves and PyukumukuGOD, already makes for an annoying field, now add in shit like 100% accuracy Inferno that gets two 1.5x boosts and fire damage every turn, and you've got a field alright. Thankfully, it's barely used in V13.5
Fae Garden: Lowering Atk on switch in is retarded. Also has type chart autism and damage reduction faggotry
Distorted Reality: Enchant sucks, now imagine it on a field, among lots of other autism. Will probably get much worse when we get more than a few fights on it
Fucking Dogshit
Almost always terrible, either because it's hard to out-abuse the bosses using them, or because they're just really fucking terrible.
Field of Cinders: PP stall hell, alongside type chart autism, not fun at all
Short Circuit (Yang): Unlike Mystical Grotto, the rest of Yang's new/heavily modified fields are garbage. This is the least garbage because it's somewhat easy to abuse it yourself with Infiltrator mons, otherwise, it's retarded
Mirror Arena: Basing a field around evasionfaggotry is retarded. Hope your team doesn't have too many physical attackers, haha... Yang's retardation with this faggotry is still fresh, but it'd still be here regardless
Flower Garden Field: There's so much shit happening and if you let it get to stage 4/5 you're pretty fucked if you can't get it under control. Thankfully it's pretty rare
Industrial Zone: Rng faggotry, combined with the very fucking annoying forced swaps every couple of turns
Colosseum Field: Holy autism. Being unable to switch whatsoever is annoying, and basically just turns battles into trading ko's with counterpicks. Thankfully it's barely used in V13.5, it'll probably go a lot lower if more fights start using it
Deep Earth: Annoying as fuck. Making ground do reducecd damage vs ground is retarded, but fuck weakening priority moves tbh. Like most of the V13.5 fields, it's thankfully not used very much. By the time it's usage ramps up, you have access to the Interceptor-Z to change it
Molten Core: Punishing you for using stab moves is fucking retarded Definitely doesn't help that my only experience fighting on this was using mainly Ice types kek
Desert Field: Reborn's version was already bad, but Rejuv makes it even more autistic and unfun. Fuck the Eve fight
Rocky Field (Yang): This got injected with so much autism that it's really hard to even consider it the Rocky Field anymore. double rock slide flinch chances, nerfing the hell out of Water/Grass, float stone autism, you name it. The only miracle is that by the time you fight Hardy, you can change the field pretty easily with terrain moves. Those meteorshitters on route 3 though? haha...
Fairy Tale Field: There's so many things that annoy me with this one. King's Shield seed, boosted SD, making Fire moves part dragon, because fuck you, the King's Shield seed, Intrepid Sword/Dauntless Shield, all the stat boosting abilities, the King's Shield seed, fuck. The only """redeemable""" thing keeping it out of the bottom tier is that you can also abuse shit like the seedshit and SD to good effect
Laboratory: Stall HELL. Fucking absurd damage reduction
Bewitched Woods: Don't you love sleep move spam with buffed accuracy? How about your dark types getting sneeded by prankster? Or maybe fairy dealing SE damage to steel? How about poison deealing neutral damage to grass? Or do you enjoy that there's only one pokemon who can neutralise the field, who gets fucked by the grass bosses you fight on it? Great field, right?
Battle Arena: Terrible field. All mons live on 1hp the first time they're going to be ko'd. While that's not TERRIBLE, combine it with the usual damage reduction autism Octavius has, alongside other very annoying shit like nature power circle throw and it's just a terrible experience all around
Underwater: What a shit field. The only way this approaches fun is when you're running a lot of Water types, otherwise, you're almost certainly fucked. At the very least, electric moves get giga buffed to help you attempt to power through
H̴̦́A̶̱͆T̶͚̂E̴̗̐ ̵̆ͅH̷̾ͅA̵͎̕T̷̗̒E̵̫͗ ̵̩̈́H̷̭̆Ȧ̵̝T̸͍͑E̶͚͗ ̷̼̑H̷̞̚Ą̶͊T̵͔̒E̶͔͛ ̸̰͌H̵̫̄Á̶̱T̷̢͝Ė̸̱ ̷̩̓H̴̦̚A̸̟̓T̷͍̽E̷̯̒ ̵̠̓H̶̡͗Ą̷̒T̷̪̊E̶̹͑ ̷̟͆H̸͔̿A̸̘̚T̴̲̍E̸̡̓ ̵̗̉
The worst fields ever. Almost always terrible to fight on, no matter the circumstances. I genuinely hope I never have to revisit this tier.
Midnight Zone: Underwater, but even worse. It's genuinely impressive that the modder made a field that makes you prefer Underwater
Glitch Field: Fuck, where do I start? Fucking over nearly all playstyles anywhere in between marginally and to the point of uselessness is not anywhere near approaching 'fun'. Bosses also perfectly abusing it while you're stuck trying to alter movesets or replacing members to even have a chance of getting through their retarded synthetic seed stallfaggots.
POWERGAP
Chaparral: Now THIS, THIS is the worst field effect ever, and that's genuinely impressive. Imagine punishing players for playing well and using super effective attacks by submitting them to RNGfaggotry of the highest order by either burning them, confusing them, or lowering their accuracy, not the opponent, THE USER. What the fuck is the point of that, you know, beyond making the player suffer? And of course, the gym leader you fight on this retardation has their mons exempt from this faggotry thanks to their types, because fuck you. And no, the 'just use this random item you're given x number of' or 'just use pokemon with abilities that make them exempt' isn't a good argument either, fuck off. And this is just from ONE mechanic of the field, to say nothing of the other bullshit, like a fuckton of moves getting a 30% chance to burn, even fucking spread moves, a fuckton of moves getting a 30% chance to confuse, because of course, or the usual damage reduction faggotry present on Octavius fields. You will have to TRY and make a field worse than this one, and even then, that's probably a very difficult task.
Completely Lost
And TRY Octavius did
Spooky Swamp: PP stall hell 2. You only fight on it once, but that one time makes one hell of an impression. REALLY not looking forward to E12
E12 UPDATE
Holy fucking shit
Actually getting a chance to suffer on it for more than literally one battle cements it as the single worst field in any rebornlike I've played. I'd go so far to call it the Virtualization of field effects, it's THAT bad. Getting confused for almost anything, doubling PP consumption/drain effects, some shit just taking all of your move's PP when you ko a mon for some reason? It's a fucking terrible field.
And this isn't even within the context of in game use, that gets SO much worse, holy shit. Nearly EVERY SINGLE random trainer has methods to wipe out all of your PP, along with at least a competent enough team that you'll likely be going back to the center to heal after every 1-2 battles if you don't want to "waste" your healing items, but wait, you get dropped into this shit without a place to heal, because fuck you. You have to fight your way out of this hell, or lose a couple of times trying in order to get to the center, and even then, there's a LOT more suffering waiting for you.
Now, I wish I could say 'I hope it doesn't get any worse', but after this? I know better. So unfortunately I'll probably be back here eventually, maybe not soon, but eventually.
