What Freud Can Teach Us About Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. item level up of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also added to each upgrade.
Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for the latter because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items which can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with a The button will display the item's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.
Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a drawback.
In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will be less expensive, even if they belong to an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available when certain milestones are reached.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a couple of options. They can use Flightstones which are a common upgrade currency that is available to all players, or crests, which are more specialized and are used to upgrade specific levels of the item. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
