/bd2g/ Tower of Salvation Guide
Understanding the Tower
ToS is BD2's roguelike mode. You assemble a team and try to climb a tower consisting of 10 floors (LV1-2), 20 floors (LV3-4) or 30 floors (LV5+). You'll find various battle rooms to build your team or secure powerful artifacts, secret events and shops, and will encounter mob formations and setups you usually won't see in the main game.
Every difficulty level you clear will permanently unlock the next difficulty level, so on subsequent runs you can start wherever you feel confident - the game gives you all preceding level rewards when you clear a difficulty level. Newish players can usually clear LV5 with no buffs unlocked, those with a good understanding of the game can start at LV8, and veterans can clear LV10 without buffs if RNG is kind.
Tower resets every month, so the goal is to aim for a Lv7 clear (or as high as you can) every 30D. At Lv7 you get 1 property select ticket (guaranteed 5-star), 10 pulls, 1 tear and 60ACs monthly from personal rewards, as well as all the server-wide season rewards which include 10 pulls and 30 more ACs.
How to Teambuild?
You can use whatever DPS the game gives you (phys or mag). You can rank and clear with either. Key to ToS is that you can upgrade characters you want to +5 for 1000 silver per upgrade at shops.
- As everywhere else in BD2, Crits are still king. Use your wildcard to secure at least 1 Crit buffer (RRH Rou>BHelena/DSLiberta), but aim for 100% during your run (either with a second crit buffer or artifacts).
- Your next priority a dodge tank like PPJustia (bis), Apostle Olivier, or Rou. Rou reaches 100% dodge/evade everything on White Cat+Nature Claw if you get the Veil of Night artifact during your run. Regular tanks are mostly useless because higher floor mobs hit like trucks and just kill outright or dispel buffs (unless you play around it). Morpeah, however, works as a tank because her summons can stall until death time and don't take up space when they die. When you can't one-shot a floor it's a good choice to turtle up.
- Get whatever good DPS show up that match your buffer.
- Try to fill out the other utility slots (silence, dispel, shredder, reposition) during your run. You never know what the tower will throw at you.
Skill Upgrades
Refresh: lv2>lv4>Max
Starting SP: lv2>lv4>Max
ATK and/or MATK: Max
HP max (if Mamonir)
Everything else optional
Good Units / Strategies / Artifacts
Good Strategies: All Phys or all Magic DPS | 3+ Different Elements | Anti-Chain (6-, BATeresse) or Chains (10+ hits, Refi/Celia) | Fixed DMG (if juiced OGJustia) | Death Time stalling (Morpeah)
Good Artifacts are any that give SP, increase your Interest (gold) and synergize with your playstyle.
+%Damage Dealt/Chain artifacts are > ATK/MATK and CRIT DMG boosts. Even Fixed Damage artifacts are good if you use og Justia. The Veil of Night (50% dodge) is also extremely good, and if you get (can afford) the 1000% CDMG artifact for your team it's basically a free clear.
Check out the Artifact Index to see what you can expect
S-Tier Units:
- Night of Death Mamonir: Her damage comes from Crit DMG and HP%, so with RRH Rou she can already oneshot a lot of LV10 rooms without any power-ups. Once you do have some HP power-ups and find some SP/Chain related artifacts during your run you've basically won.
- Crit% Buffers: RRH Rou > B-Helena (also dubs as a battery with her other costume), DSLiberta
- DPS: Mamonir, Eclipse/Venaka (Magic), Anastasia/Yuri (Physical) are examples of DPS that can carry runs for you. Low SP costs, some self-buffs or utility, and great multipliers. Using higher SP units like Loen, Bustia can be used but require (M)ATK and SP upgrades first. Other good units include QoSMichaela, Angelica (Neon/Summer), and Liatris/other DoT users with Maidkini Rubia.
- Support: Either anti-chain with BATeresse, or chain with Refi + relevant units and artifacts.
- Dodge Tanks: PPJustia (Forced evasion+battery with her potential), Olivier, Rou, MRubia
- Morpeah: 3 reposition types + 3 SP from auto attacks, can also tank and nuke as needed
- AD Diana: Her shield can't be dispelled unless Diana is dispelled, making her a counter to dispel mobs.
- Darian/QoS Michaela: Good damage and their patterns often deal with the wonky formations you'll see in tower.
- Gray: Mobs tend to have very high atk values at later floors, which his skills scale off.
- OG/Blood Glutton Justia (with fixed damage artifacts)
- Celia (chains that can easily be doubled/tripled with Refi and artifacts, debuffs)
- Elise/Venaka (Shred), Schera/Yuri (dispel), Refi/Dalvi (pull), Rou (kb/dodge), Olstein (Silence)
Example of a Magic Team, Chain Stacking run ft. B-Helena, Celia and Loen.

Pathing
- If you don't have a healer on board: Plan your route to end up at a shop before boss rooms. There you can heal (=revive) all units for 1000S.
- Prioritize paths that have a treasure jar (free R or better artifact) after an Elite room.
- 1-10F: Green and Blue Rooms for roster/artifacts.
- Especially on higher difficulties it is advised to avoid Green Rooms after 20F; they can often fuck up your run.
Example: Path based on a) shop before boss room and b) treasure jar after an Elite battle

Important Tips
- Costume dupes and unlocked skill potential nodes carry over to inside the Tower, but gear and levels do not. Instead you will use artifacts.
- You can retry if you mess up a formation/skill order, but chance % related events (crit/dodge) will always produce the same outcome if you use the same team. Swapping out and using different units (or altf4/reloading tower) will produce a different rng seed.
- Swapping units out/in resets their cooldown. This means that for 4SP you can have Olstein's silence/battery skill up and running every turn, same for PP Justia's dodges+6sp skill. This is also the secret to how people rank (eg BLoen firing off her giganuke every turn on the ranking floor).
- Swapping/replacing units is free on T1, and costs 2SP per unit after. Don't miscalculate and find yourself short on SP to use skills.
- Dead units (tombstones) can be replaced with owned living units for 2SP each.
- USE YOUR DAILY FREE KEYS!
Even if you don't feel like playing ToS, you can still use your keys to Quick Battle the highest level you cleared → get Obsidian Shards to spend on stat boosts → start the next playthrough a lot stronger. The quick clear scores also count towards the Seasonal Goal.

- Shops heal and revive everyone for 1000 silvers. If you know a shop room is up next you can even finish the battle with just 1 unit with 1hp left.
- Progress is saved. If you want to do something else you can Alt F4 and continue from that floor next time. Note that you can't use your keys to quick battle other stages if you're in the middle of a run.
Lv8+/Ranking/Maxing Score
Like Tower of Pride, you can rank in Tower of Salvation by reaching the same amount of points as other Top100 players have. If Rank1 has 66.000 points you will also get rank #1 if you reach 66.000 points. For now this just gives you a new shiny title and trophy at the end of the season, but hey.
At Lv8+ mob HP values become bloated and SP scarce enough that the one shot meta gets harder to pull off until you've got your (M)ATK and SP upgrades. At that point you may need to start exploring alternative strategies, like planting Gray's DoT on mobs and (Reflect) Tanking - there are artifacts to enhance counter damage (1st slot) and offer immunity to dispel for a turn, meaning that CD swapping Olstein + a juiced Sylvia/Lecliss can really shine. Similarly, a unit like Morpeah can stall until death time in a lot of cases. Remember: Your score is not affected by how long it takes you to finish a battle!
You can use this as a guideline for ranking or if you want to get more obsidian/challenge yourself on lower floors:
