How I do role battle
When I run a role battle I take the time to describe the movement. How the torso twists off the line. Where the force comes from the legs. Whether the picture in my head actually closes the distance.
I keep asking the same questions: do I reach? do I eat a spike for stepping in? can I even move this thing?
I write this better in Spanish. English is for the page.
I use a proxy because it gives the bot a real IQ and it actually follows the lorebooks instead of skating past them. That is how I get the fight to hold. It is not a rule for you.
I try to end my action open so the bot can fire back. Then I cut or argue the hits that should not land.
Old names from when I did this with other people on other sites:
- Mano negra (Black hand) — writing the other side’s action for them.
- Mano blanca (White hand) — leaning on the fact they did not describe enough and taking an opening they never gave you.
A good role battle, for me, is this:
- you leave the other side room to defend
- they react with sense, not a monologue
- the picture in your head stays coherent
- kinematics, stats, and the system on the table stay consistent from one post to the next
Thanks for reading this far.
Narrative roleplay in my bots
I do not mind narrative play. I am not going to tell you how to narrate or what to narrate.
I do want punches in the room. At least a real dose of fight.
I have watched characters who are champions if you let them defend get folded in three messages. I have watched characters who are not that strong give a war when the fight is actually played.
That is the only ask.
Public chats
If you want to, make the chats public. I like reading what people do with these.
