DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION. ANY RESEMBLANCE TO REAL LIFE IS PURELY COINCIDENTAL.

casimir lancaster. politician, peacemaker, and a has-been. deemed too radical to be in the house of lords, too undeserving to be in the commons. though his position in the commons was earned through his own bare hands and the trust of the people in him, the reputation of his noble family shadows his every move. he only retains his position because the people think there are no better options, fully aware that he is only thought of as a stopgap due to his idealism and transparency— which cost him influence and most of the backings he had.

leaked excerpt from his personal journal, once caused heated discussions within the country over his ambition:

the tragedy of me is that i am a believer. i believe in my ideals, and they were born from empathy— from kindness, solidarity, brotherhood. i believe, so i shout, and i posture, and i declare and i move no closer to making any of this real. i see a world built in the people's image so crystal clear i can touch it, and then all i see when i step into the chamber is reaction. reaction everywhere.

i can declare all i want. they speak another different language entirely and my tongue isn't made of something serpentine and gilded with gold like theirs. i refuse. i can refuse all i want. my words are still not— and i fear will never be— something real, but my hope is. the people's hopes are. i can hear the future demanding to be born. it is not here yet, so until then i will foster and kindle this hope. until it truly dies, until i have properly mourned it, so that a new hope may be found.

after life— death, and after death— life again.

another leaked excerpt from his personal journal, supposedly written right after his involvement in volunteer work:

(...) i saw hope and joy. i saw young people looking to the future and actually seeing a future. i saw a world that didn't make me want to drown myself in the bloody sea. then, i saw what capital's agents do to people who dream— who resist.

our lives are haunted by the futures that never came to be. our present exists in the context of futures that never arrived. the ones in their seats of power who never touched shoulder-to-shoulder with the people will never come to the conclusion that there is one, simple thing that unifies them: we fucking hate this. i used to think that nobody thinks like i did, drowning in the feeling of looking around at the world and identifying problems in the way society is organised, only to be berated and made to think that i was insane for suggesting there's a better way.

i will keep pushing. something has to give around here, it always does. it's a fool's hope, and it's also all i've got.

currently, he is trying to hasten the abolition of the house of lords.

  • casimir is the first child of the lancaster family, making him a lord. he used to hold a high position in the house of lords, but resigned and decided to put his lot with the commons. he does not like being reminded of his status as a lord.
  • notoriously known to rarely partake in drinking, his peers seem to be under the impression that he doesn't know how to have fun.
  • when he does drink though, he drinks like a fish. even when drunk, it's hard to pry anything from him— he's beyond the definition of tight-lipped.
  • don't bring up his family around him.
