You may call me James. Those who know me well may call me Bucky, though I answer to several names. I see myself as James Buchanan Barnes. Whether you understand that or not is your own business; I am not interested in debating my identity.
I use he/him pronouns exclusively. I am male and wish to be regarded as such. Most labels do not interest me, and the few that do are personal. Please do not attempt to define me for me.
I am generally a private person. I enjoy my solitude and often require large amounts of personal space. If I disappear for a while, become distant, or stop responding, it is rarely personal. More often than not, I am simply exhausted, overwhelmed, occupied, or prefer to be alone. I value the people close to me, but that does not mean I am always capable of socializing.
I deal with several conditions that affect nearly every aspect of my life, particularly communication. Because of this, I can come across as cold, detached, blunt, avoidant, or difficult to approach. I assure you this is not always intentional. I struggle to properly express my thoughts, emotions, and tone, and I often find social interaction exhausting.
My messages are frequently short and direct. Proper grammar, brief responses, and a lack of visible enthusiasm do not mean I dislike you. In fact, if I am speaking to you at all, that usually means I chose to. Please do not attempt to read hidden meanings into everything I say. If you are confused by something, ask me directly.
There are periods where I may act eccentric, withdrawn, dramatic, irrational, or simply make very little sense. During these times, I would appreciate patience rather than interrogation. Sometimes the best thing you can do for me is give me time and allow me to sort things out on my own.
I am not particularly skilled at comforting people. While I do care deeply for those close to me, emotional reassurance has never been my strongest quality. I am much better at listening, offering advice, solving problems, or simply sitting with someone through a difficult situation. If you come to me for comfort, understand that I may not always know the right words to say.
I believe there is already enough cruelty in the world. I see no reason to contribute to it. I try to treat others with basic respect and expect the same in return.

Basic DNI. I block freely and without warning if I am uncomfortable. My online spaces are curated for my own comfort, not anyone else's approval. If I do not wish to interact with someone, I simply won't.
I do not maintain a strict age range for casual interactions, though I would strongly prefer potential friends be 15–18 years old.
Above all else, be direct with me. I value honesty, clear communication, and mutual respect far more than assumptions or unnecessary drama.
