Welcome! Take a seat. Today, as you might have seen by the rentry's url name, we will be taking a deep dive about ponytown and it's "callouts", a gender of rentry, carrd, strawpage or other sites that have been circling around for a while in the said game. Note that I won't name anyone on this site cause of basic respect and privacy.
I shall not reveal my identity, but you can call me "Mr. Word". I only go by the pronouns it/its, they/them or word/wordself. Keep in mind that I am NOT defending anyone who has been called out before, I am only giving my opinion. Also, forgive my poor language skills - english is not my first language.
This document is very important for me, so constantly updates will be made — such as adding new topics, re-organizing or rephrasing texts so you can read better, and sometimes fixing grammar errors. I want this rentry not being hard to understand, so the use of metaphors or hyperboles will be avoided when possible.
Do NOT harass anyone who makes callout pages over this rentry — This rentry was made for informing about something important and to make you aware of callout sites. Using it for harrassing others will only show that you haven't understood the actual meaning behind this. If you're going to spread this page for the sake of ponytowners, spread it on the right way.
This rentry will be divided by the topics:

What is a "Callout site"?
A "callout site" is a digital document written down in a site, mostly common on rentry, with the objective of exposing someone and spreading awareness. It usually involves screenshots of discord/ponytown conversations, said person's personal rentry, guestbook messages and more.
These callouts can be written by only one person, or by a group of people.
How does a "Callout site" work?
Callouts usually start with someone introducing the reader to the rentry, warning them about the possible triggers the reader might have, and, after that, showing why the person they will expose is some sort of villain. They will use any concrete proof that the exposed person is hostile and will hurt others, think of a twitter thread. 80% of the times, the rentry will link said person's medias/socials — Keep that in mind.
Why is a "Callout site" bad?
You might be asking yourself.. If a callout site has the objective of making people aware of someone who can hurt others, why is it bad? Today I will answer you why! Let me tell you a story:
There are plenty reasons running through person A's mind of why they want to expose person B publicly...But there is a main motivation: feel like they are doing something right for other players.
When Person B get exposed, people will be aware of how ignorant they are. Of how careless they are towards others. Person B will get what they deserve for being stubborn; and if Person A want that to happen, they will use all the possible proof they have on their hands.
The first reason: the arguments.
Callout sites will always use proof that might take advantage of who they want to expose, and that's right... Till it isn't.
Sometimes, the proof used on callout sites are messages out of context, worded wrong or actual misunderstandings. The writer, of course, if they want to take advantage of who they're exposing, won't give further context or the whole story; they won't explain why person B said that, or even try to reach out to them and ask the context. In rare occasions, they WILL actually ask for context for the person who they're calling out — however, they will use the justification of person B agaisnt them.
The second reason: the harassment.
Let's imagine person A put on their callout that they don't support harassment. However, the same said rentry links to all possible person's B social medias and also is updated everytime person B changes their account(s)' name. Believe or not, that's harassment. Even though you want to show someone's social medias, just so if anyone sees a pony with those linked, they can hide person B, you're promoting unnecessary harassment. How, you ask? You might be used to how internet works, and you know that there are people out there who think it's funny to send death threats DMs to someone who is being exposed, sometimes threaring to doxx person B. Not only that - you're sharing person B's social medias without consent and giving people the opportunity of blackmailing them. That is invasion of privacy, stalking and also leads to cyberbullying. Threating of doxxing is also not justified by ANYTHING.
Online harassment also gets to the point where it turns a crime; did you know that? They're named libel, defamation and injury.
- Libel is accusing someone of a fake and harmful statements to damage someone's reputation, such as horrific overuse of terms with deep meanings behind it. E.g is typing on the internet "this person is certainly transphobic" instead of "In my opinion, I think this person is transphobic". Libel and Slander are the same things, except that Libel is when the accusation is written down (which is the case when it comes to PonyTown's rentry callouts), and Slander is when the accusation is spoken.
- Defamation is the imputation of fact(s) that undermines someone's honor and communication, with the intention of making an attempt that may cause the public to not trust said person.
- Injury is an act of ofending the honor and dignity of someone else by cussing them out or similar.
The victim have the right to take legal action agaisnt any of these crimes and these cases are mostly caused by people who think they're safe behind their screen as anonymous. Believe or not, you can't hide yourself forever!
The third reason: the misunderstanding.
This is very common when it comes to callout sites. Let's pretend person B worded something wrong and it didn't sound like what they meant, and person A thought it on the wrong way, starting a whole drama that wasn't meant to happen. But then here it comes the question: what if the two people, who have been arguing over and over again, contact each other and try to clear out what happened? What if they explain their whole side, their thoughts, everything, and listened to each other carefully... Could the drama that has been happening for a long time actually end? And the answer is... Yes, it can. A single conversation can change everything. Might not seem possible, but the power of communication and understanding can resolve multiple things that could have been resolved long ago.
The fourth reason: the unhealthy spreading.
There is a lot of times where people who make callout sites dedicate their time to spread it everywhere they can. You probably have seen this happening by people putting those sites linked to their github or, in other occasions, on their pony's name. That can result on chaos — from people arguing in public about person B's reputation, to people publicly gossiping about said person. This causes discomfort for people around you, by immediately changing the atmosphere to something chaotic and negative, and even creating a crowd of people that don't even know what is happening but wanted to join the gossip.
Not only that, there is a lot of times that if the argument is over, people will discuss it for MONTHS, cause they are gossip obsessed and drama lover people. They won't care if you say "hey we already have resolved this situation a while ago, stop bringing it back". They will keep on and on till they get tired of it, after all, they won't receive any punishment, since they "aren't included".
The fifth reason: going after personal info.
Usually, people who make those rentry callouts will ask for more information to add. This ends on Person A going after Person B's friends to get EVERY single bit of information, being it with context or not, just so they can put it on their little callout. That is also considered stalking. Not only that, Person A gets mad when one of Person B's friends refuse to give information cause of... well, basic privacy. And then, Person A assumes that Person B's friend is defending them, now having the opportunity to expose someone else.

The sixth reason: doing it for yourself.
This is kinda basic. Person A say that they're doing their callout site to make others aware of person B and be careful around them. Person B might have said some shitty stuff... But you soon thought that Person B isn't really doing something that could affect players' experiences in game. It's actually something more personal for Person A, and it makes you realize that Person A isn't doing this to spread awareness on Ponytown. They are doing this just cause they can have their little "revenge".
The seventh reason: the fear of being the next.
You're afraid of being exposed, and there is no way you can proof otherwise. You can tell me in 100 different ways that you are not afraid, but you'll be lying to yourself. Yes, you're not the only one. EVERYONE feels like this — even the ones who are doing these callouts. That's not normal. You shouldn't be afraid of having your DMs exposed to internet, cause someone shouldn't even do that in first place. This only makes the situation worse, since most of those rentry callouts are made by people that want others to pass through things that themselves are afraid to do so.
The eighth reason: it isn't life changing.
Now, you're person C. You see person A on ponytown and click to see their github, just so you can interact safely. You end seeing a callout site linked to person A's account, and clicking on it, you find person B being exposed. You take your time to read everything the rentry says... And you think to yourself: "is it worth it?" You don't even know person B, and reading that rentry won't affect or harm your day. But, of course, there are people who are on the same situation like yours, that instead of ignoring and continuing their day, they prefer to spread the rentry more and already assume they also hate person B.
This is something common that happens not only on ponytown, but in other social medias. There are people who want to join the group of person B's haters just so they can share the same feeling. This is not healthy. You have NO REASON to hate person B, since you both never interacted before, but you say you hate them, cause if you say that you don't agree with the rentry, you'll be cussed out by lots of people you don't even know. And you don't want that, do you?
The last reason: is it worth it?
Now, reflect a bit. Is it worth it? Is it worth it to put effort in making a site where a private problem turn into a public situation, making it probably stay alive for months? Is it worth it to wake up everyday just to spread more and more about something that stopped haunting you just so it can haunt you EVEN MORE? Is it fair to be afraid of saying anything wrong and getting called out and hated by people you never heard of? Is it worth it to be paranoid over people stalking everything you do, even if you're just existing? Even if you're using other media?
It isn't worth it.
What can I do instead of exposing?
A lot of people who expose others do it purely based on their emotions influence. They are angry, and cannot hold it back anymore, wanting to feel heroic by exposing the person who is messing around with them for a while. There is other ways of dealing with these problems without being exposing:
- Blocking. You have the total right to hide and block anyone permanently everywhere you can, and you don't even need to justify it! That is why this option exists. Cutting contact with whoever is making you uncomfortable is the best way of ending with this pain.
- Censoring the name of whoever you are blocking from chat, in case any slight mentions of said person makes you uncomfortable;
- Having a calm conversation with whoever is making you uncomfortable and telling them how you feel, what they have done of wrong, and what they can do to stop. Sadly, not everyone is comprehensive, so if that person don't stop, return to the first option: blocking;
- Stop following them on social medias, so that their posts aren't recommended to you;
- Talking about it to your therapist, or the person who takes care of you.
If you think that none of these options might work for you, and that you want to go through the way of making callout websites, go ahead. I cannot control what you think or what you do. It is all up to you and your responsibility in how this situation result in. But don't callout someone instead of reporting cause you think that "it wont be bad enough" for a report. That can waste your whole mental health, and when you want it to end, it won't.
It will take a few weeks or months for you to move on.
What can I do if I see a callout site? How can I help spreading this?
If you don't want to have contact with people who make callout sites, you can block whoever is doing it or ignore them. Harassing them won't change their mind, neither forcing them to learn the lesson will. Like I have said on the start — if you will spread this rentry around to give people awareness, do it on the right way by linking this to your github/patreon or just sharing with someone you care about. Anything works, and will be helping a lot by bringing awareness to this topic and making ponytown a safer place! However, if you want to act and report the rentry/user, you can check the next section below.
Does this rentry include ALL callout sites?
It does include majority, but yes, some callout sites are actually important. HOWEVER, If you are concerned with a certain player who can affect multiple other people's experiences on ponytown in a negative way, consider reporting to ponytown's support. If you have enough in-game proof to callout that person, you will have enough proof to AT LEAST suspend them.
Not only ponytown is always available to help you out in case you see people harming others in-game, but the rentry moderators are too! If you report to their e-mail or to their twitter, they will delete the harming rentry, cause they agree that harmful accusations should be taken proper actions.
- Ponytown's support e-mail is [email protected];
- Rentry's support e-mail is [email protected];
- Rentry's twitter is https://twitter.com/rentry_co.
Does that mean I cannot vent to others about the situation?
Of course not! Feel free to vent privately about whoever you want, to whoever you want. It's a vent. After all, nobody is being forced here to like each other. The problem is when the situation becomes public and people bring it up on social spaces, forming big and disturbing gossip groups. Sometimes, vent messages are leaked without the permission or consent of the one who sent them — it's called disrespect.
Why did you decide to talk about this? What is your opinion on this whole situation?
I have realized that I'm not the only one who is seeing ponytown's players growing more and more toxic each day passes, so I have decided to talk about this. I'm not only someone who's giving an opinion — I also have done a rentry callout on the past and HAS BEEN EXPOSED ONCE. However, both situations were misunderstandings and got resolved by communication! Isn't that funny? Of course, I can't force anyone to not do a callout site if they want to — I'm not the ruler of the world. But I wanted to share my opinion with other players, and I don't think that's forbidden here.
I'd like to make clear that I am playing this game since 2020, and I am doing this cause I am concerned by how this game will turn into a sort of "twitter 2.0" (if you get me). Even if I don't have the power of talk since I am not a moderator of this game, I want people to think "hey... this is getting toxic already". I want people to start resolving dramas by having a simple conversation. Again, I cannot force players to stop making callout sites. But I can try to make people realize that calling out someone is way more tiring and will last longer than only blocking them and moving on.
"I know who you are! I have seen you before."
No, you don't. If you see anyone who:
- Has a github saying that they are me, or that they know me;
- Is accusing people who have this rentry linked to their socials to be me;
- Has "concrete" proof i said something on public;
Don't believe them. I think this is obvious but it's better to mention. It's nonsense to make a whole identity just to tear it apart right after.
"I don't think you're right, so I'll keep making callout sites."
That's totally fine! I'm not forcing any readers to have the same opinion as mine. If you think it's right to make rentry callouts, I won't stop you. That's all up to you! But remember what I said — callout sites can consume your mental health and time on VERY long and tiring ways.
Can I question anything related to the rentry? How do I get in contact with you?
As I have said before, I am not going to reveal my identity. But if you want to question anything related to this rentry, you can access my strawpage right here.
- Constructive criticism is well appreciated;
- Suggesting things to add is accepted;
- And any other messages that are related to the rentry will be replied!
If you want to sign off, just put your name on the end or on the start of the message.
Yes, I can defend myself and I have a lot of arguments for this topic.
Your message will be deleted if you:
- Comment about "suspections of who I am";
- Harass the other guests ( You'll be IP blocked. ) ;
- Or anything that is not related to the rentry.
And yes you can death threat me there. I don't mind. After all, it only will convince my point.
The end.
If you have read all of this, thank you so much. It means a lot for me. All I can do is hope that I somehow helped you open your eyes or feel safer that you're not the only one who thinks like this. Please remember that everything I have said here is based in MY opinion and MY experiences as a past callouter and a past victim of a callout.
Since you have read everything, have a cat as a gift.
Knowledge has no limits. Researching will always help you out in the end.
Have a good week! Remember to inform on the right way.
