[try again tomorrow — liana flores]
𝙇𝙮𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙨 :
The highlighted lyrics are what I am explaining as to why I chose this song and it's lyrics.
Faces skating skyward
Places I could be
Cardboard houses swaying
From that sunlit seas
These creatures creep in thirsty for their fill
To hold me underwater 'til I'm still
Ralph begins the chapter by calling a meeting and lecturing the boys for not helping with chores, which leads to one of them commenting on the "beastie" they're so scared of. Ralph tries to dispell this idea once again.
I could always try again tomorrow (try again, try again tomorrow)
I might always try again tomorrow (try again, try again tomorrow)
Cement inside my ribcage
Hardening to stone
Too late now it's passed you
Walk the railway tracks until you're home
Tired as the pavements underfoot (Tired as the pavements underfoot)
Water never stays where it is put
Even though Piggy urges Ralph to call another meeting after all of them scatter, Ralph admits that he would rather give up his leadership than deal with the responsibility anymore. Much to Piggy and Simon's dismay.
I might always try again tomorrow (try again, try again tomorrow)
I might always try again tomorrow (try again, try again tomorrow)
And each path I'm taking course
Ever alone as night falls (fall, ooh)
Heart's still beating black and blue
Time's still passing, never you
Relunctantly, Ralph stays chief and takes Simon's and Piggy's reassurance to heart and decides to push forward.
I could always try again tomorrow (try again, try again tomorrow) [4x]
I chose this song to represent Ralph's thought process in this chapter. From the responsibilities not being properly discussed, to the hunters taking favor from the boys just a little more, to the fear of the beastie not being debunked fully. All of those things slowly making him more stressed.
