Short on Time [ChatGPT]

This blog is part of my 38 Before 38 series, where I write a post every day for the 38 days leading up to my 38th birthday. Some days are easier than others.

Time is my fiercest opponent today, so consider this a stream of consciousness rather than a polished post. Writing daily is a relentless challenge. I knew this going in, yet here I am, typing away to keep the streak alive. A commitment is a commitment, after all.

The hardest part of this self-imposed marathon isn’t coming up with ideas or even the actual writing—it’s my workflow. Here’s what my daily grind looks like:

  1. Draft the post in Notion, my favorite Markdown editor. It’s efficient, makes formatting part of the typing process, and keeps things neat.
  2. Create a banner image in Canva.
  3. Copy the post to my WordPress site, upload the banner, and add alt-text for accessibility.
  4. Publish it. Get the link.
  5. Repeat the whole process on Medium. Add the banner and cross-link the WordPress version.
  6. Do it all again for my newsletter on Kit.

It’s exhausting, inefficient, and entirely my fault. With my tech background, I could automate a lot of these steps. But building that solution takes time—time I don’t have when I’m already juggling daily posts, work, family, and life in general.

Looking back, I should’ve spent a month planning and streamlining this workflow before starting. But let’s be real—if I were that meticulous, I probably wouldn’t have even started this project. Now, with 20 posts to go, all I can do is grit my teeth and push through.

So, why do I keep putting myself through these ambitious challenges? Maybe it’s the thrill of the grind. Maybe I’m just stubborn. Either way, I’ll keep going.

Thanks for sticking with me. If you’re curious about the rest of the series, check it out here.
