Short on Time: The Challenges of Daily Blogging[Written By Claude]

Subtitle: Navigating the Chaos of a 38-Day Blogging Challenge

This post is part of my 38 before 38 series—a daily writing journey leading up to my 38th birthday.

Time is a relentless opponent, and today, it's winning. I find myself wrestling with the commitments of my ambitious daily blogging project, struggling to maintain momentum while juggling multiple platforms and responsibilities.

The Workflow Maze

My current publishing process is a labyrinth of inefficiency. I bounce between tools like a digital nomad: composing in Notion, designing banners in Canva, then manually copying and formatting across three different platforms—my personal website, Medium, and my newsletter.

Here's a typical workflow:

  1. Write and edit the post in Notion
  2. Create a banner in Canva
  3. Manually copy the text to WordPress
  4. Upload the thumbnail
  5. Write alt-text for accessibility
  6. Publish and grab the link
  7. Repeat the entire process for Medium
  8. Do it all again for my newsletter platform

The irony isn't lost on me. As someone with technical skills, I could automate this entire process. But herein lies the catch—developing an automation solution would require time I simply don't have right now.

The Commitment Conundrum

I'm 18 days into this 38-day challenge, with 20 more to go. Why do I do this to myself? It's part stubbornness, part passion. I refuse to break the chain, to let a single day slip by without fulfilling my commitment.

Could I have planned better? Absolutely. A month of preparation would have streamlined this entire adventure. But that's not my style. I'm more of a "jump in and figure it out" kind of creator.

For now, I'll continue navigating this chaotic workflow, one post at a time. The finish line is in sight, and I'm determined to cross it—messy process and all.

Reflections

This challenge has taught me something valuable: Sometimes, done is better than perfect. My imperfect, manually crafted posts are still posts. They're stories. They're progress.

Twenty more days to go. Wish me luck.
