Clinical Cynanthropy
!possible reality checking language warning!
what is Clinical Cynanthropy? Clinical Cynanthropy (sometimes abbreviated to "CC",or spelt as "Clinical Kynanthropy") Is a psychiatric delusion (falling under the delusional sense of self type delusions, and more specifically being a type of Clinical Zoanthropy) in which the individual directly holds the belief that they are physically a dog, or otherwise are physically turning into a dog. this reality may also manifest itself into thinking that oneself has the biology or otherwise genetics of the dog, or perhaps may also think that their bone structure, organs, etc are related to that of a dogs.
how is Clinical Cynanthropy caused?/what is Clinical Cynanthropy derived from?
CC can be caused by many things. the most reoccurring reasoning's are an underlying psychotic disorder/related disorder, cultural factors, social factors/situations,a lack of sleep,or drug intake. everyone is different when it comes to how they experience CC, and why they experience CC.
do you NEED to hallucinate to be considered a Clinical Cynanthrope?
this question can be complex, but to simply put it: no. CC is a delusion, which is a unbreakable false belief held by the individual. hallucinations are stimuli that aren't actually existing in the moment, such as smelling spaghetti when none is being cooked,or seeing a shadow figure run by when no-one is present. if someone holds the belief that they are physically a dog,or physically can turn into one no matter what..good chance that this individual may be experiencing Clinical Cynanthropy.
so... whats the difference between therianthropy and Clinical Cynanthropy???
this question varies for most individuals,,,BUT the most common and simplest way to put it is that most therians understand that they are physically a human, whilst CC's dont. this isnt something that applies to all therians though, as some therians may also be Clinical Cynanthropes - or some Clinical Cynanthropes might also be therians.. but simply, therian ≠ Clinical Cynanthrope (this isnt to say that they wont overlap,as I sorta stated earlier).
wait.. then how should I treat Clinical Cynanthropes? is it bad to refer to them as dogs, as that may worsen their delusion? should I reality check them??? etcetc???
these are all very common questions I see, but my answer simply is: ask them! if someone likes to be referred to as a dog due to them being a CC, then that may just be the best thing to do. if someone doesn't like to be referred to that way, as it may worsen their sense of self.. then dont! complicated feelings from said individual? talk it out together! everyone is different, and everyone has different needs. its best to ask rather then assume.
ok... I think I may be expierencing Clinical Cynanthropy. what should I do??????
im proud of you for taking the first step, that being realization. I am not a doctor, but it is recommended to talk to a professional about your feelings if they are concerning to you,is causing harm to yourself or others, or are simply distressing. if that is currently unavailable, it's best to journal or otherwise write out how you feel if you have any pent up thoughts. again, I am not a professional, I am simply someone who also experiences Clinical Cynanthropy - and these are just the things that has helped me along the ride the most. everyone is different, do not do anything that you know will worsen the state you're in. take care!
