To the Galactic Station
Xue: (-’Night on the Galactic Railroad’.)
Xue: (Giovanni, a struggling schoolboy, and his friend Campanella, meet all kinds of people on the galactic railroad carrying the souls of the dead.)
Xue: (For example, they could be a paleontolegist or a businessman. They could be lighthouse keepers or young men with children.)
Xue: (While these meetings and farewells on this mysterious journey to the heavens happen, the main character Giovanni thinks-)
Xue: (-What is true happiness?)
Xue: (True happiness-)
Xue: (At the end of the play, there is a scene in which Giovanni and Campanella talk to each other about their true happiness.)
Xue: 'If I......can save Campanella, I would burn in the flames hundreds of times.'
Xue: (Giovanni tried to save Campanella with his own sacrifice. He gave him a ticket that would take him anywhere......and back to the surface.)
Xue: (But Campanella did not accept the ticket. By not accepting it, he returned Giovanni to earth.)
Xue: (This is a part unique to Gingaza’s arrangement. Giovanni was saved by Campanella.)
Xue: "Zanelli is terrible. He is quick to say bad things about me."
Xue: "But Campanella would never speak ill of me."
Xue: (Giovanni is suffering from a lot of problems. For him, Campanella was his salvation.)
Xue: (So I can understand his desire to help Campanella. But can self-sacrifice be called true happiness......?)
Xue: Nhhh! It’s hopeless, I don't understand! What is true happiness!?
Ramona: Schopenhauer, a philosopher from my home country of Germany, said, 'Count your happiness and you will soon be happy.'
Xue: No need for lectures. And philosophy doesn't pay.
Ramona: Don't say that, you're probably aiming for Giovanni. Maybe I can help.
Xue: Hmph! I don't need any help. I'll do it myself.
Xue: ......By the way, which role are you going for?
Ramona: Zanelli. The role that teases you.
Xue: Haha, then you don't need to delve into the role, do you? You're already messing with me.
Ramona: That’s not my intention. ......I apologise if you felt that way. Sorry......
Xue: That's the part where you laugh and carry on doing it. You’re not acting like you’re after Zanelli......
Xue: Have you heard what the others are doing? What about Hikari, Finland and Koyomi-san?
Ramona: I haven't heard anything. We’ve barely talked.
Xue: The person who's not satisfied until they've retorted to everyone hasn't spoken to anyone? Are you feeling unwell or something?
Ramona: I can feel it, the seriousness everyone is putting into it this time.
Ramona: For members of the Gingaza theatre company, this performance is has a special meaning.
Hikari: 'What exactly is true happiness?'
Hikari: ......Hmmm, thats not quite right. There's no angst at all......
Kamira: What's the matter, you look confused. If you're worried, talk to me.
Hikari: Waah, Kamira-chan!? It's nothing! I was just thinking about happiness!
Kamira: Happiness huh, you're worrying about something so grandiose, that isn't like you. You're doing a poor job of trying to fool me.
Hikari: Ugh! Actually, I have an audition coming up......
Hikari: I'm so nervous! I'm so nervous, my script is covered in sweat!
Kamira: Ah, I can't really say anything about Gingaza. If it's a role you're worried about, you've already done it, right?
Kamira: Because, you see. I'm worrying about happiness right now.
Hikari: Mmmm...... It's difficult......
Lilja: .......
Lilja: ......Come, little fairy. I am only meditating. I’m doing nothing at all.
Squirrel : Kyui~?
Lilja: ......I was calming down a little. Because I'm unusually nervous.
Lilja: Yes, it's important to be as usual. I’ll give you walnuts as a thank you. Eat them with your mother.
Ramona: Night on the Galactic Railroad is the gateway to success in Gingaza. It’s a sign of the heavens, a one-way ticket to becoming a Dai Star.
Ramona: When it comes to its star, Giovanni, the competition is fierce.
Xue: I told you I don't need a lecture.
Ramona: Well, listen to me. Giovanni is a struggling student in distress. He works every day to help his family make ends meet while he studies.
Ramona: He loves the stars and the galaxy, but can only dream. He is in a predicament where he cannot even reach for the stars he longs for.
Ramona: Even if he want to make his dreams come true, the situation won't allow it. He needs money to live. That is Giovanni.
Xue: ......That’s right.
Ramona: So I want to ask you. How would you play Giovanni? I wanted to make a reference for the role of Zanelli.
Xue: ......Is a bit of a guessing game, but that's okay. I'll tell you one thing.
Xue: Giovanni doesn't care how hard he has to work. He works hard and chases his dreams. He also helps Campanella.
Xue: Giovanni is a strong guy who fights no matter what. That's how he wants it to be.
Ramona: ......This agrees with my interpretation. I’m relieved.
Ramona: Well, I'll see you on stage.
Xue: ......Hmph. You useless meddler. I told you to concentrate on yourself.
Xue: Well, that's all right. The next time we meet will be on stage. I will definitely stand as Giovanni.
