Cottage Terrace Inn, Room 106
You fall over. You head hits the cheap tile of the motel bathroom. That wakes you up from a return to the fuzzy place you've been going all night, thought that place has become even fuzzier and heavier since the strange woman entered the room.
The woman. You almost forgot about her.
You drag yourself into the bathroom. You'll feel better once you get to your bag. You just went a little too long. Your mouth is like cotton even though a cold, wet, sticky something is all over your chin. You drag and drag and drag and drag and drag and drag and drag and drag and drag and drag. Finally, the last of your legs is inside. The pain is excruciating but the you know that once you get inside, you'll be okay. Your bag is on the side of the bathtub unless Tailar moved it. You won't have to reach far to get it inside of the tuna can bathroom.
You start to reach for your bag. You only have a little strength left, just enough strength to get the bag. Something goes wrong, though. You use that last bit of strength to reach up and lock the bathroom door. You collapse. Your whole body gives out.
You close your eyes.
You open your eyes.
Am I dead?
A knock on the door woke you up. The pain is still there. It's all still there.
"Can I come in?" you hear.
You remember the start of the whole argument, when Tailar held up the guy's wallet.
"What are you going to do with that?" you ask.
Tailar does the smile she used to do whenever she completed a difficult task, like when she first learned to skate backwards on her ice-skates. This time, her smile looks naughty.
"I'm going to come to his rescue by returning it to him. I'm sure that will turn into a nice opportunity."
"You're going to save his life by robbing him?" you ask.
The cash and cards from the wallet are laying on the bed away from the wallet. Tailar shrugs.
"He won't know anything about that. Unless you tell him."
You look in your lap. You think about telling Tailar how dishonest that is, but you want to tell her about the problems you've been having and you want her to be receptive. You figure out what you'll do: you'll take the wallet when she isn't paying attention and put the money and stuff back in it. You'll return it to the guy before you leave the Cottage Terrace Inn. Hopefully, you'll never see him again.
