About Toto

The group Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also acclaimed studio musicians with Boz Scaggs at the time) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. Joseph Williams, the son of John Williams, the legendary film composer and actress Barbara Ruick from 1950s, takes over Fergie Frederiksen as lead vocalist. Joseph Williams is a natural frontman and provides the band with a much-needed boost.

The band released Mindfields in 1999, and then embarks on a massive worldwide tour. After a few weeks in Europe the band travels to Japan for sold-out shows. After a short break, Toto resumes recording and goes on to record their first live album titled Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes an original cover of Weezer's song Hash Pipe in response to the band performing their hit song Africa on their recent tour. Toto's touring band includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest along with keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.
