How to change your GF2 Intro Cinematic

Courtesy of /gfg/

Greetings fags

I Fucking hate the fact that they haven't changed the 1st anniv login screen, even in the fucking CN server so I took that personally.

DISCLAIMER

EVERY TIME THERE'S A BIG UPDATE THERE MIGHT BE A CHANCE THE GAME WILL MAKE YOU REDOWNLOAD CERTAIN FILES INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL MOVIE FILE

I AM IN NO WAY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT VIDEO ENCODING OR VIDEOGAME FILE FORMATS, THIS ALL STEMS FROM TRIAL AND ERROR AND QUESTIONS MADE TO AISLOP PLUS BASIC GOOGLE SEARCH

As legal as all the nude Klukai mods you can find on the internet!

Step 0: Downloading and converting ( (https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp & https://ffmpeg.org/download.html)

We will use this video as example! Download it!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8WHmgGHGBo
You can use any video to make your own intro!

Force 1080p scaling on your downloaded video.mp4 just in case and turn it to .m2v and .adx
Turn it to .m2v and .adx with ffmpeg

Video:

Force Scaling

ffmpeg -i video.mp4 -vf "scale=1920:1080:force_original_aspect_ratio=increase,crop=1920:1080" -c:v libx264 -crf 17 -preset slow -c:a copy 1080p_input.mp4 -y

Convert to .m2v

ffmpeg -i 1080p_input.mp4 -c:v mpeg2video -b:v 15000k -maxrate 20000k -bufsize 20000k -r 24 -an 1080p_output.m2v -y

Audio:

Convert to .adx

ffmpeg -i 1080p_input.mp4 -vn -acodec pcm_s16le -ar 44100 -ac 2 audio.adx -y

Step 1: H.264 Encoding (https://artifacts.videolan.org/x264/)

Execute a two-pass encode using x264.exe on the .m2v file to generate a raw .264 video stream
<(make sure both x264.exe and the m2v file are in the same folder)

Pass 1

x264.exe "1080p_output.m2v" --stats "vecenc.stats" --fps 24 --level 5.1 --slices 1 --no-scenecut --profile high --threads 0 --lookahead-threads 0 --aud --direct auto --me umh --nal-hrd vbr --bitrate 15000 --vbv-maxrate 20000 --vbv-bufsize 20000 --ref 2 --bframes 0 --b-adapt 0 --keyint 24 -o "video.264" --pass 1

Pass 2

x264.exe "1080p_output.m2v" --stats "vecenc.stats" --fps 24 --level 5.1 --slices 1 --no-scenecut --profile high --threads 0 --lookahead-threads 0 --aud --direct auto --me umh --nal-hrd vbr --bitrate 15000 --vbv-maxrate 20000 --vbv-bufsize 20000 --ref 2 --bframes 0 --b-adapt 0 --keyint 24 -o "video.264" --pass 2

Step 2: CriMed Stream Modification (https://archive.org/details/new-criware-sdk)

The crimed.exe tool injects SEI (Supplemental Enhancement Information) data and modifies the stream parameters to make it natively recognizable as a CriWare video asset.

Execute crimed.exe found in the folder "Sofdec2" to process and shrink the generated output.264 stream into a .264_med file
<(make sure both crimed.exe and the file you got from the last step are in the same folder)

crimed.exe shrink -t264 -dseit0020 -kvui "video.264_med" "video.264"

Step 3: USM Packaging

The final packaging phase. The sofdec2enc.exe tool takes the modified, CriWare-compliant H.264 video stream (.264_med) and the converted .adx audio stream
Execute sofdec2enc.exe to encode the modified stream into the final .usm container.
<softdec2enc.exe is in the same folder as the one from last step btw
<Remember the .adx file from Step 0? This is where we use it now!
<I'm not sure if using a .wav file works, should be possible I guess
<disp_size should be the same resolution as the your original mp4 file, in this 1080p because the software shits itself at higher sizes

sofdec2enc.exe -video00="video.264_med" -audio00="audio.adx" -out="Loading_MovieV02.usm" -gui_mode=ON -disp_size=1920,1080

If you followed the steps you should obtain something like the following file https://files.catbox.moe/r9t9eo.usm

Step 4: Replace the intro file with your new "Loading_MovieV02.usm" file!

Head to:

..\GF2Exilium\GF2 Game\GF2_Exilium_Data\LocalCache\Data\AssetBundles_Windows\Assets\Cutscene\Video\PC\Loading

Move the original "Loading_MovieV02.usm" to another folder of your liking
<This is the intro movie file!
Paste the new file you just downloaded and rename it to "Loading_MovieV02.usm" if you haven't done so before!

Open the game
VOILA!

ENJOY !

Also, if you just want the old intro, found this on reddit

Locate the old intro video file in:
..\GF2Exilium\GF2 Game\GF2_Exilium_Data\StreamingAssets\PC.
Copy the file:
Find the old video file (usually named movie_003.usm) and copy it.

Navigate to the loading folder:
Go to \GF2Exilium\GF2Game\GF2_Exilium_Data\LocalCache\Data\AssetBundles_Windows\Assets\Cutscene\Video\PC\Loading.

Rename your copied "movie_003.usm" file to "Loading_MovieV02.usm" and paste it into this Loading folder, replacing the newer file.
