10 Myths Your Boss Has Regarding Robots That Vacuum And Mop
Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt) and wet mess (spills, stains) in one time without the need to change devices. They can also save space when compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will offer excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bin, refill their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads using the dock that is specifically designed for them.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you running with a clean, full dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in a matter of minutes.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a selection of attachments and brushes, and a user-friendly application that lets you pick the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.
For instance, you could choose to have the robot clean up the living and kitchen but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to detect small obstacles that other models cannot. Its only minor issue is that it tends to hit objects and walls at a high speed, but just a glance at the cleaning history within the app will show you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading and what obstacles it's avoided.
The docking station has a handy LCD screen that shows the time when maintenance is required, such as emptying debris and cleaning the dirty water tank. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank with a 600ml bottle of Eufy's own solution.
Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop can run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode, and the vacuum can run for 136 minutes in normal mode, prior to needing to recharge or returning back to the base. You can view the complete cleaning details within the app, which is clearly laid out and easy to understand however we would like to be able distinguish between a vacuum and a vacuum/mop clean when looking at a clean area in the cleaning history.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's flagship robot vacuum and mop, is the most up-to-date version. Unlike last year's model it comes with a double agitator in its mopping pad, which greatly improves carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pull up fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners may overlook.
As with the two other Roborock models I've tested it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and determine whether they are a wall or another surface. It then can alter its path automatically and clean around the objects without stumbling.
It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, however, it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek and angular design is attractive and it only has three physical buttons: the power button, which also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to send the robot back to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin automatically refills.
The only downside I found in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if necessary), it's a pain to take off the mount itself for manual washing. I've observed that any soft carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and that can cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number smart features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can configure and manage these using the Roborock app, which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings, track the battery life and maintain your components. You'll need to jump through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. This is a shame considering how efficient it is otherwise.
