The collection brings together landmark BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes, Boiler Room sessions, Resident Advisor podcasts, festival recordings, radio archives, and sets from influential clubs including Space Ibiza, Trouw, fabric, and Berghain.

Each entry links to MixesDB, where available metadata may include dates, venues, recording details, tracklists, and external listening links. MixesDB is the catalog source, but the selection, genre groupings, and ordering on this page are editorial.

Sets are arranged broadly by style and ordered using a combination of reputation, listener interest, historical importance, and editorial judgment. House & Deep House

Generally features a four-on-the-floor beat within 110-140 BPM, a groove built on swing and syncopation, synthesized basslines, repetitive melodic elements, and an upbeat mood.

French Touch & Filter House

Originated in France in the mid-1990s, characterized by the use of filtered (low-pass, phaser, etc.) samples of Funk and Disco.

Disco, Soul & Global Grooves

Characterized by the 4x4 bass drum (i.e. four on the floor) and the prominence of sixteenth-note hi-hat with open hi-hat on the off beats.

Techno: Detroit, Berlin & Peak Time

Highly beat-driven, repetitive, and mechanical, typically featuring minimal chord variation and melodies, focuses on rhythms and timbral variety.

Electro, Acid & Industrial

Syncopated rhythms programmed on the Roland TR-808 drum machine, often resembling Funk breaks, along with simple funky basslines.

Minimal & Microhouse

Stripped-down, minimal form of House, originating in the late 90s, which takes influence from Minimal Techno, Glitch and IDM.

UK Bass, Breakbeat & Leftfield Club

Prominent bass/sub-basses, a deep, dark, airy, and mechanical sound, eclectic production.

Drum & Bass & Jungle

Fast, syncopated breakbeat patterns (often sampled or programmed) with prominent basslines, commonly within the 160-180 BPM range.

Trance, Rave & Progressive

Evolving, tension-building structures with rapid, minor arpeggios on top of a hypnotic, four-on-the-floor drum patterns at fast tempo around 130-150 BPM.
