RIPPING UP SYSMEDS THE SECOND ONE
Hi, our name is Ethan. You've probably seen our first carrd about this, and I think it's high time we made a second one. So here we are.
"You can't have transfem/intersex alters in afab/perisex bodies"
Not only is this downright wrong, it's medically incorrect, so congratulations on being double wrong.
We see this argument alot especially because it's believed that transfems are some magical untouchable being
that if you say one thing wrong about you ruin their entire reputation. It's true that transfems experience a unique
type of transphobia specific to them, but that does not make them "more important" or "more opressed" than any
other trans person. That just means they have different struggles and needs. Ya know, like everyone else.
And the intersex argument bothers us so much personally, as bodily we are intersex. Not only does this
feel dismissive of alters who may have different sex characteristics than usual, ya know, like normal outerworld
intersex people, it also feels slightly infantilizing. Like you can't understand what being intersex is unless you
are it. To some degree this may be true, but that doesn't mean perisex systems are going to try and come into
intersex spaces just because they have an intersex alter. And if they do that’s an issue with the system not the
concept of intersex alters in perisex bodies itself. It’s normal and ok to have alters that are different than the
body. Grow up.
"You can't have alters that are a different race than the body"
Once again, downright and medically incorrect but ok. It's literally in the criteria for DID to possibly have alters
that are a different race than the body. Once again, white systems specifically are not going to go into POC spaces
just because they have POC alters. They know better. And other POC systems can have alters who are a different POC
than the body, you know. We are black and native bodily, but we have latine, asian, filipino, indian, and more types of
POC alters in our multiple. But we're not going to go into those spaces like we have any say, because bodily we don't.
Again, it's normal and ok to have alters that are different than the body. Grow. Up.
"Syshopping/Sys Travel is abusive"
This one is just an insult to spiritual systems and spiritual people of all sorts everywhere. System travel, in and of
itself, is not abusive. Like ANYTHING, it can be used to abuse people, but it is not inherently abusive. In my& multiple,
we use system travel with our partners and family systems. Partners to spend time with each other in ways we physically
cannot, family to check up on each other and make sure we are safe. It's just another system function, it's not something
to demonize because you don't understand it. Yes, it has been used poorly on us in the past, but that doesn't mean we
distrust or fakeclaim others who system travel. It means we distrust and hold accountable those who used it against us.
That, and system travel can be similar to that of astral travel or astral projection or other similar spiritual practices.
So saying it's just totally not real is dangerously close to discounting spiritual experiences of those you don't understand.
Just think before you fakeclaim or discredit system travel
"Spiritual systems are actually just mediums"
This argument baffles me specifically because it means that you know nothing about mediums. Mediums channel
spirits. As in, they let them talk through them temporarily. They don't stay in their bodies. Spiritual systems hold spirits
for however long the spirits wish to stay. And those spirits have a say and can act on things for the body because they
are staying in it, versus a medium who gets the last say in what happens to their body. Spiritual systems don't all work
this way obviously, but the ones that do are different from mediums in a unique way that you needn't discredit. Plus,
spiritual systems have existed far longer than the existence of the medical model for systems have. Respect your elders.
"The term sysmed is transphobic"
I don't even understand this argument so I'm not gonna waste my breathe on it. Sysmed = System Medicalist. Transmed
= Trans Medicalist. It's that simple.
