whats the tea with delusional attachments?
oh boyyyyyy it's a doozy.
so, here's the lore. the term 'delusional attachments' was coined in 2020, by some user on twitter. this user mind you, is known for race faking and more. anyway. kff twitter like this term. then loser anime fans (danganronpa fans at the scene of the crime as always) pick it up as well.
why?
cuz they wanna kin in peace.
boom, they pretend to have this mental illness, pretend to believe they're these characters (look up self deception, which is different to delusions) and make a mockery of what psychotics experience. anyway, psychotics get mad at them (rightfully) and shit on the term. like i've said in the past, the term is ghetto.
but - here's where things get messy.
denying DAs is kinda a weird place to be in, because of 2 main points.
'it's not a medically recognised term!!!!!' and 'when you're delusional you can't be aware that you are!!!!' both of which are crude arguments at best lol.
there are many terms that aren't recognised medically that describe things that we (psychotics) and others experience, why? this is because education and understanding of mental health is sooooo far behind it's laughable. there are also medical terms that just suck. like functioning labels for autism or retard or aspergers syndrome.
and the second point oh boyyyyy. most delusions are real to us yes thats true, but it's literally not true that we are NEVER aware that we are being delusional. so these arguments are really just super dumb man.
so in THAT regard, DAs are okay yeah. my beef (and most other psychotics problem) is the complete misinfo that goes with DAs. DAs as they stand is just a way of saying you've projected your identity onto a character, which is fine, but that isn't a delusion. emotional attachments aren't delusions either [not to be confused with /delusional attachments/ https://naomedical.com/info/delusional-attachments-understanding-overcoming.html] anyway. our beef is that people who have DAs tend to say this to completely shit on the otherkin community who get fuckin hated on like crazy right? it sucks. most people that say they have DAs tend to look down on or are weirded out by otherkins. like if you see the DA people they typically say things like 'i have a DA but no other symptoms of psychosis' which is a red flag tbh. it basically promotes sanism sooooo there's that. i'll add more to this part if i remember but that's what i remember for now. actually, a good place to look thru if ur curious about everything is this persons tumblr https://strawberrybabydog.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/delusional%20attachment
on the topic of otherkin and it's subtypes, there's a lot to the conversation. there are two types of otherkins, those that have dpd (or some type of illness that induces delusions) and those that dont have dpd. having an otherkin doesn't make u mentally ill and it doesn't mean you are delusional. but a lot of people with dpd (and cohort) refer to their nonhuman delusions as otherkin or other names. it just makes it easier for us to communicate nd discuss it. we aren't the same, we just use similar terms.
it's kinda tough cuz a lot of otherkins/fictionkins are kinnies and just pretend to be delusional so no one calls them out for being weird. they also like to co-opt system terms which is super fucking stupidbdihb dfibfdibdh. which is why i rarely ever speak on this topic in relation to myself because i do not want to engage in the stupid kinnie discourse because i literally lose braincells when i think about them.
also. kinning (delusional) is involuntary whereas fictionhearted, copinglinks and synpaths are not.
