#PART ONE.

(Ultimate) DirkJake & Beauvoir: An Existential Analysis

  • LINK : HERE
  • PITCH : Ultimate Dirk, Lord English Jake, and how they separately represent existential archetypes as presented by French feminist-philosopher-girlboss-icon Simone de Beauvoir.
#PART TWO.

DirkJake: The Lovers

  • LINK : HERE
  • PITCH : A ~11k word character analysis on Dirk, Jake, their past and their respective ultimate forms that borrow heavily from existentialist literature. Featuring de Beauvoir (duh), Camus, Hal Strider, Alpha Dave Strider, Grandma English, and my own special brand of insanity. All technical terms are explained, kind of, and I'm currently working to turn this into a video essay. I'll also get it into AO3 at some point, I just hate CSS formatting (I do it manually <3) and am procrastinating heavily on it. Cheers.
  1. Dirk Strider: The Absurd
    • On Dave Strider: Brotherhood and Perfection
    • On Hal Strider: A Vaguely Machine-Learning Based Analysis
    • On Albert Camus: Suicide, Deification, and ‘Ultimate’ Forms
  2. Jake English: The Ambiguous
    • An Ideal Reality
    • His Hope, Belief, God
  3. DirkJake: The Lovers
    • The Ultimate Realization
    • On The Lovers’ Freedom
#PART THREE.

Closing Remarks

  • I want to put both Dirk Strider and Jake English into a washing machine then spin cycle them on cold until they kiss and make up.
  • Also your mandatory reminder that these two characters are FICTIONAL. Even if I would consider an IRL relationship this insane/doomed/tragic to be some form of love, THAT DOES NOT MEAN IT IS NECESSARILY GOOD FOR YOU. Form your own conclusions, life imitates art but not that much, you deserve to be happy and feel loved &c &c.
