(^ ᆺ ^) hello everynyan! Don't mind the image i don't associate with Hetalia anymore lord save me ・゚・(。>ω<。)・゚・ Anywho! I dont really know what to do with this url, i claimed it with an idea and immediately lost it..... so I'm going to talk about my favorite country, Poland!

Did u know there is a lot to love about poland? I love poland a lot a lot... everything from its cultural clothing to its military!

poland’s history is genuinely astounding btw alongside most of central europes history :rainbow: It officially formed as a state in 966 with the baptism of Mieszko I, which tied it to western europe super early on. by the 1500s it was part of the polish lithuanian commonwealth, one of the largest and most populated states in europe at the time. what people do not usually know is that it had an elected monarchy.... the nobles actually voted for their king, which was very unusual for that era. It also had one of the first written constitutions in europe on May 3, 1791, second only to the united states, and it was incredibly progressive for its time!

then came the partitions. In the late 1700s, russia, prussia, and austria literally erased poland from the map for 123 years OH MY GOD #REST #IN #PEACE I MOURNED BEFORE I WAS BORN. DESPITE THIS polish culture, language, and identity survived underground :) There were secret schools where children learned Polish because occupying powers tried to ban it. when Poland finally regained independence in 1918, it had to rebuild almost everything from scratch. That resilience is such a defining part of its identity considering how many times its been torn down and rebuilt (like the royal castle was almost completely destroyed in 10 and 13 september 1944 - 27 november 1944 and they rebuilt it entirely by 1984)!!!

this is something i also love! during WWII, Poland had the largest underground resistance movement in occupied europe! called the Home Army. They even ran an entire secret state with courts and education systems. Polish mathematicians also cracked early versions of the german enigma cipher before the war and shared their findings with the British, which massively helped the allies later on! as well as in 1980, the Solidarity movement began in the gdańsk shipyard. It was the first independent trade union in the soviet bloc and played a huge role in ending communist rule in central europe 。゚(TヮT

and the food. pierogi obviously but also żurek in a bread bowl which is sour rye soup and sounds suspicious until you try it ok?. bigos which is hunter’s stew that just keeps simmering and getting better andt better :) pączki on tłusty czwartek where everyone collectively agrees to eat as many filled doughnuts as humanly possible before lent. priorities are in order ok. i must do this myselfWho wants to eat filled doughtnuts with me oka?

poland also has one of the oldest salt mines in the world still operating in wieliczka and there is literally an underground chapel carved entirely out of salt like chandeliers and everything. who looked at a salt deposit and said yes we will build a cathedral here. visionaries. this also will be me touring in the future.

there is just so much layered history and culture packed into one country that has survived partitions occupations uprisings wars communism and everything in between and it still has its language its traditions its humor its pride. how do you not admire that honestly (つω`。) lord i will never regret getting into central european history it is 1000% more interesting than american history I genuinely do wish to visit poland one day...

i can barely speak polish right now which is a little embarrassing to admit considering how much i care😭 znam kilka slow i zwrotow i naprawde sie staram, ale tworzenie prawdziwych zdan wciaz jest trudne. szczerze mowiac, moim marzeniem jest moc kiedys swobodnie sie nim poslugiwac. czytac poezje bez tlumaczenia kazdej linijki, naturalnie rozumiec rozmowy, mowic bez wahania. to jest dla mnie wazne i mam nadzieje, ze kiedys do tego dojdeee...
