”Doctor… I think I love you.”

It was all too much for Veritas to comprehend. The gambler's words had rang in his mind all night.

Prior to Aventurine’s random confession, the two were at a party, which ultimately resulted in the consumption of alcohol. Throughout the night the doctor had caught glimpses of Aventurine downing drinks, it was going to be a long night Ratio sighed as he looked down into the glass in his hands. “Doctor!” A voice called out, dragging out the ‘R’. A very, drunk Aventurine walking toward Veritas. Ratio turned his head to face the blond, “What do you want?” He asked bluntly. Aventurine grinned “So straight to the point doc… I just wanna have some fun.” He slurred as his hand slid to the violet-haired man's thigh. Woah. No. Ratio’s eyes widened. “That’s enough drinking for you. It’s clouding your mind with… Thoughts.” He heard a laugh from the other male. “What’s wrong doc? Is this setting too public for your liking?” Aventurine teased as he got closer to Ratio’s face. He’s drunk out of his mind. Idiot. Ratio scoffed. “No, you are clearly intoxicated. I will not indulge you when you clearly can’t consent.” He lowered his gaze, “And it will just be a one-night stand you won’t even remember.” He said in a whisper. (This means Ratio leaves before Aventurine wakes up..)

The other seemed to not hear the last bit, thankfully. He just let out a whine. “Whine all you want.” Ratio got up, “I’m leaving, follow me if you wish to do so.” He really hoped he would, leaving a drunk Aventurine alone would not be the best move, especially with people like Boothill around. Childish bar fights seemed to follow him everywhere he went. “No wait up!” Aventurine exclaimed. “Don’t leave me all alone dear doctor.” He said with half-lidded eyes. Ratio sighed for what he could only count as the hundredth time as he led the blond back to his car to drive them both back to his apartment.

Which leads to Veritas Ratio, a man with eight PhDs, sitting on the island in his kitchen chugging water clueless on what to do while a half-asleep Aventurine sits on his couch after professing his love for the violet-haired man. No. It’s not true Veritas, get a hold of yourself. He’s drunk, he doesn’t… Ratio attempted to be logical about Aventurine's words. Veritas was hardly ever open about his feelings, though it was mainly to focus on his education and career. He sighed as he gulped down the last few drops of water from the glass cup. It wasn’t like he didn’t care about his feelings, more or less he just didn’t know how to deal with them. He just repressed his feelings for a certain blond gambler. Not the move it seems. The doctor sulks for a bit. Self-pity is never the answer. Maybe I just need to sleep this off.
