It was a dark, dark rainy day, with overcast clouds that blackened the sky.
Beyond the din of the downpour, a feral scream could be heard, then another one. Distant. Everything was distant. Pitter-patter, pitter-patter—pitter-patter times one thousand, times one million.

Few people were either foolish or brave enough to actually go in. Evacuation orders came and went, presumably. Stay-in-your-homes, as well. It was only barely a day, and yet it seems like a lifetime has passed. Crumbling buildings with shattered windows, coated in thorny vines.
In the distance, a black figure stood perched on a building at the corner of a street. It was a giant, easily twice or three times as tall as the building, covered in short black fur. Its coiled muscles were slick with rainwater. Vines spread from its clawed feet all over the building's top, across shattered windows and drifting onto power lines. Its fur grew thicker along its neck, up to its head: a skull with a pair of bent 'S' horns. Hunched as it was, its hateful gaze was with a glowing red dot in each empty socket. That very same glow came up from its throat to a bony muzzle filled with venom-dripping teeth. Mist, red as well, fumed and steamed out from its eye sockets, and spilled from the corners of its slack maw.
The provisional name for this creature, apparently, was EAC-277-ROMERO. Another scream, farther into the distance. Farther, farther; away, away...
