Okay, there's a lot of dialogue around SFW/NSFW and what that entails, and a lot of "But what about the children" arguments, and it's all kinda nonsense? I’ll elaborate.

Okay for everyone: Furry characters in general

Only okay for adults: Anything involving a kink in any way (with a few caveats)

Let me elaborate: The idea, the whole premise of fun animal people, there's nothing wrong with that. I hate referring to things as SFW and NSFW, because screw workplace rules in general. If you think about it, checking Facebook or Instagram or Twitter is "Not Safe for Work" in most places. It's not a good metric to go by. Could you get away with it? Sure. Should you have a 5 foot poster of your fursona put on the wall next to your workspace? Probably not? Workplace standards are not a good measurement for what's "okay" and what isn't.

I prefer general and mature. If you want to go more granular, I feel like movie ratings might be more accurate (G, PG, etc.), but we can stick with General and Mature to simplify things. General is anything that doesn't include a kink/nudity, but of course there's always exceptions. Someone getting pants'd for a joke bit in a comic is not really "nudity", even if it shows someone's backside. A mother character breast feeding isn't mature...But the other aspect of this is realizing that there are kinks based around these two ideas, I've even seen them before! It's fair to assume that the differing factor here is intent.

I believe intent is a more telling measurement for whether something is mature versus for general audiences. For vore specifically, since that was what was asked, you can look at it like this: Is Red Riding Hood a "mature" story? It can be seen to have a vore kink in it (Red and grandma both get eaten), but was that the intent of the story? As far as we can tell, it doesn't seem so. It's a cautionary tale warning about "stranger danger", and a lot of the more vore-related attributes are left out (grandma and Red are both eaten pretty much off-screen, and without much detail apart from being "swallowed whole"). Is Jack and the Beanstalk a "mature" story? It involves giants and what could be seen as micro/macro settings, but again, that's not the intent or focus of the story.

It's kind of like the old trope of "how to recognize a vore artist": You see what they put the details into. If the picture is nice but the maw is the truly detailed portion of it, you can tell that's what they're "into". That's likely the purpose of the drawing. It might not even be a conscious effort, it's just what they're used to, but it eschews the whole picture into a kink-related category if you ask me. Heck, I've done it myself by accident, and didn't realize till later that the picture was more vore-focused than I meant for it to be! It's something to watch out for, but I don't think a "slightly more detailed mouth" is any reason to mark something as mature if that wasn't the intention of it. If you start getting into whole swallowing sequences and such, yeah, no, that's definitely more mature content there, because it's clear what your intention is.

As far as the whole "what about the kids" arguments I see in...Well, absolutely anything related to furry, I'd encourage folks to read up on it ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Think_of_the_children ) and realize how flawed an argument it is. I keep hearing about how pictures people draw can be used to groom children (???), especially if it's cute artwork, and how drawing kids in pretty much anything furry is promoting that grooming, and...It's a mess. It's a mess and I see people throwing around accusations left and right without a lick of proof, factual evidence, or even any studies reviewed or research done besides a moral outrage at perceived slights. The "Think of the Children" argument is thrown out as the end all be all in terms of what's right and wrong, and it's genuinely disgusting? It's an easy "win" button instead of looking at things and deciding for yourself what's right and wrong, and why.

Here's how I see it: making kink stuff with kids involved doesn't feel right to me. The intent in kink pictures is largely sexual/arousing, and associating children with that seems...Dirty. Not great. Sure, you can come up with some off the wall, very soft-and-safe idea about how some character used to have a magical stuffed dragon they'd hide in at night to feel safe/devour their nightmares and such (aren't there pokemon that eat nightmares even?), but those are by-and-large not what is meant by "vore" situations. On the flip side...I think it’s ridiculous to not be able to include children in a setting that also happens to include vore. Children are included in horror movies, in war scenarios, and it’s nonsensical to think they don’t exist in a setting where people sometimes eat each other. Characters aren’t born fully grown, and they have children and live lives of their own.

I think it’s okay so long as the focus isn’t on the children participating in the vore scenarios. There’s probably a deeper discussion here about characters developing a taste for others at a younger age, but I won’t get into it here since that’s a lot more nuanced...I will say that sometimes going “I never ate anyone until my 18th birthday at midnight, oh, and they had just turned 18 too so we were both legal adults and that makes it okay” doesn’t exactly cut it for in-universe lore reasons.

Again, it’s all about intent: why do the characters need to be children in order for this vore scenario to work? Are there other ideas or scenarios you could use that have that same sort of power dynamics? If it’s about school, would a college/university work instead, maybe with larger teachers versus normal sized students? There’s a lot you could do to change things around to be more appealing, yet keep the core ideas for the scenario.

...So, uh, I guess to fully answer the question...No, vore isn’t SFW, but very few things are. Can vore be for general audiences? In certain situations and circumstances, possibly! Is there any thing WRONG with vore not being SFW/for General audiences? No, not at all. In face, it’s great to be able to safely explore this completely imaginary kink in a safe and healthy way with other consenting adults.
