This was just a practice run, but you were so nervous still. Was it the process of remembering what to do? Getting everything set up properly? Recording the results right?
No.
It was because you were partnered with her, the girl you had had a crush on for goodness knows how long. Ouro Kronii.
She was a reserved, shy girl who kept to herself and only had a small group of friends.
Lately you had been getting friendly with the most gregarious of the bunch, Sana, who called you over at lunch to eat with her and the other four on occasion.
Yet of the lot of them Kronii never spoke to you much, she often looked away or gave passing, deadpan remarks.
"Anon? Can you set it up?"
Her golden voice snapped you out of your rumination. You clumsily set up the titration apparatus, almost dropping the burette on the floor when she looked at you.
Whilst you fill a measured alkali into a conical flask and drop in the indicator, Kronii struggles to reach up and pour the hydrochloric acid into the burette.
She's on her tip toes, the acid sloshing over the side of the tube.
Her ample chest accidentally knocks the stand, causing it to start topping. In a flash you rush to stop it spilling over, wrapping an arm around Kronii to keep her steady and not fall.
"Gwak!"
Her hand holding the acid is trembling, making it difficult to pour an accurate measurement, so you place a hand over hers and assist her.
With disaster averted and the acid measured, Kronii looks up at you and away quickly, her face as bright red as Carmine dye.
She was so unbelievably beautiful up close; the flowery scent of her hair, her big deep blue eyes, her small button nose, how her uniform conformed tightly to her perfectly shaped body, her chest straining under her bra and blouse...
You realised your arm was still around her waist and your other hand had slyly intertwinned fingers with hers, your own face rocketed up in temperature as you quickly released yourself and looked around nervously, seeing if any of your classmates saw the two of you sharing the brief moment.
"S-s...sorry Kronii" stuttering through the tsunami of emotions that surged through you.
"N-no it's ok... thank you"
Kronii looked back up at you and smiled slightly, a small, soft hand held onto yours and squeezed.
You both smiled at one another, feeling a little awkward but happy.
So much chemistry today and you hadn't even started the titration.
