why fonts aren't "aesthetic" and "fancy"

fonts are used to "spice up" one's profile in order to make it "aesthetic" and stand out in a way. while yes, it does stand out, it makes the profile unreadable for screenreaders and just hard to read in general. an example of this is this tweet, where someone uses a text to speech website to show how a screenreader would pick up said fonts.

below, you will see fonts you may commonly see:

  • 𝔣𝔬𝔫𝔱𝔰
  • π–‹π–”π–“π–™π–˜
  • 𝓯𝓸𝓷𝓽𝓼
  • π’»π‘œπ“ƒπ“‰π“ˆ
  • π•—π• π•Ÿπ•₯𝕀
  • 𝐟𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐬
  • 𝙛𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙨
  • ο½†ο½ο½Žο½”ο½“
  • πšπš˜πš—πšπšœ

these do not get picked up by screen readers as stated before. if you use these, someone using a screen reader may be confused and not pick up on what is stated in the profile, post, text, etc. you can use many different other things to make your profile aesthetic, such as non language symbols & emojis! don't use these ugly fonts.
