3 Ways In Which The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops Can Affect Your Life
The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops
Noah Pinsonnault works as a product analyst for Good Housekeeping's Home Care and Cleaning Lab.
He evaluates and tests cleaning appliances, focusing on mopping and robot vacuum combos. These multitaskers can be a great option for those who are looking to get rid of mopping off their list of tasks. They are equipped with impressive mapping and obstacles-avoiding capabilities, and some even wash and refill their own mopping pads to ensure a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
If you're looking to buy a robot vacuum that also mops then this is the model you should go for. It's smaller than other models and makes it more maneuverable in tight corners or under furniture. It has a 220 degree Lidar that, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, provides some of my favorite navigation and object avoidance features I've seen in robot vacuums. It has a hefty 4600mAh battery that can last for up to 170-minutes if mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can last longer in turbo). It can even return to the dock to replenish its battery halfway through an efficient.
It's extremely quick and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted rooms quickly and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen and hallways with only one motion. Its suction motor of 8,000pa is quick at picking up dirt, droppings, and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it encounters rugs and the dual side brushes help draw out debris from corners.
The mopping performance, while still impressive, isn't as effective. The mop rotates quickly and makes use of 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arms extend out slightly more than other robots, which is useful for getting into tight corners and along baseboards. Those same front arms can also be used to clean larger objects, such as broken toys and books.
Another nice feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot vacuums and mops I've tried. It doesn't make the same volume of sound when mopping or vacuuming and is quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it needs to utilize a specific mopping solution and is sold separately. It's easy to install and is effective however this is something you'll have to be aware of in case you're purchasing this vacuum for the sole purpose of it mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is different from other robot vacuums in its class. It is a powerful cleaner with a variety of features.
The device has an impressive and powerful cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map your home and locate furniture and other obstacles. It then uses this information to clean efficiently and intelligently. This will result in an effective, consistent cleaning that's also fairly quick.
In terms of mopping, the Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads can be used to reach an array of surfaces. This includes corners or baseboards, as well as other hard-to-reach spots. They also have a flexible side brush that extends to the floor in close proximity to walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are also washable and dry to eliminate odors and stop buildup.
App-based customization is another notable feature. The Q Revo allows you to alter the strength of suction and select between a back-andforth, or a more random patterns. You can also select the number of passes which determines how fast it can move around your home. You can also turn off the side brush in order to avoid damaging carpets and rug.
This device has a fairly expensive price, but is packed with a wide array of advanced features. It is important to remember that the device will incur periodic costs in the form of mopping equipment and regular maintenance. For example brushrolls need to be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter must be cleaned after 150 hours and the mop pad should be replaced every three to six months.
This robotic vacuum cleaner has a high Amazon rating and includes an array of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also comes with an power button that doubles as the 'Clean button' and a Home' button to send it back home after cleaning. It also comes with a multifunctional dock that automatically empty the trash bin, fills up its water tank, and wash and drys its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a professional with a lot of work or someone who wants a cleaner home without spending a lot of time on chores, the Shark Matrix Plus is a solid option. Its incredibly fast performance, sophisticated navigation and long battery life allow you to maintain a clean home with minimal effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop, that is, it can do both vacuuming and mopping. The robot is divided into two parts, a dry bin and water tank that can be easily snapped in and out and a mopping unit that has a microfiber pad. Separate modules for vacuuming and mopping may seem a bit old-fashioned, but they do mean that you don't need to worry about changing bags for disposables or refilling the tank with water.
The Matrix Plus performed well at both vacuuming and mopping. Its greatest feature was its precise floorplan map which it uses to draw an outline for cleaning. This made it a breeze for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture, rugs, and other obstacles. The app allows you to create 'No-Go Zones' or virtual barriers to stop certain areas from being cleaned by mopping.
The Matrix Plus also did a amazing job of collecting hair of pets. It was able to collect many of the hair sheds from our cats. It even got into the corners and crevices of our stairs where other robots had struggled. The noise levels were low, and there were some lovely jingles that inform you that it was in the process of finishing its work.
Its main drawbacks were its lack of sophistication and the necessity to change out the modules whenever switching between vacuuming and mopping. The app can't contain multiple maps, which could be a problem when you live in a house with a mix of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those who want a smart robot that can do both mopping and vacuuming.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive of our review. It does however, have distinct features that make it worth looking into. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its enormous dock which doubles as a charging base and housing for two water tanks, a cleaning sink as well as the 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically eliminates.
The base also comes with a set of control buttons that allow you to start cleaning, recall the robot, or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Hold down two buttons to turn off a child lock which is a great option for parents concerned about children playing with the vacuum.
best rated robot vacuum like other robotic vacuums, utilizes its camera to spot obstacles and furniture that are in its path. It will stay clear of them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system maps your home 10 times faster than conventional laser detection systems and is four times more accurate in finding objects.
Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni can occasionally become so entangled with an obstacle--such as an electrical cord dangling across a rug, that it gets stuck and stops working until you free it. While this was rare but it was a very frustrating experience when it did happen, especially since the X1 Omni does not have an "stuck" status alert on its app.
Another issue that could be a problem is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between vacuuming and mopping modes during cleaning. You will need to manually switch between the two, which isn't a big deal aside from the fact that the mopping pads aren't washed and dried between use, which can lead to mildew or mold.
The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame), who created its sleek, modern base and mopping pad. It's a significant difference from the utilitarian black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. It's also a welcome sight for the market that is dominated by boxes.
