hitari had always believed that love was something that couldn’t be swayed by time or circumstance. she had always imagined herself with tentten, the girl who had been by her side through everything—through school dances, late-night talks, and quiet mornings filled with laughter. tentten had been her safe place, her home. they were inseparable, or so hitari had thought.

but everything changed the moment tentten met takaniki-rida. that god awful robot.

it had been a random encounter—an innocent meeting at a local café, where takanikis vibrant energy and magnetic charm had drawn tentten in, the way it had so long ago. at first, it was nothing more than a passing friendship. hitari had watched from the sidelines, convinced that it would remain that way. after all, tentten and hitari shared something deep, something no one could easily break. or so hitari convinced herself.

but then, little by little, something shifted. tentten began spending more time with takaniki. their conversations grew longer, their laughter more frequent. hitari tried to ignore the pit in her stomach, the gnawing feeling that something was wrong. tentten assured her there was nothing to worry about—she was just making a new, and old, friend.

but hitari couldn’t shake the feeling that she was losing her.

one day, as hitari walked through the school halls, she saw them together in the courtyard. tentten was laughing, her eyes sparkling, as rida brushed a strand of hair from her face. a tight knot formed in hitaris chest, a cold, consuming jealousy taking root in her heart.

it wasn’t until the next week that everything came crashing down. tentten sat across from hitari, her hands trembling as she spoke.

“i need to tell you something,” tentten said, her voice barely above a whisper. "i think… i think i’m falling for kaniki.”

hitaris heart stopped. she blinked, trying to process the words, but they felt like daggers lodged deep in her chest.

“wh-what?” hitari stammered, her voice tight with disbelief. “but… tentten, we—”

“i know, hitari,” tentten interrupted, her eyes filled with a sorrow that only made the situation worse. “i love you, i do, but… but i think it’s time for me to let go. kaniki makes me feel… alive, in a way i never expected, in a way i never knew was possible.”

the world around hitari seemed to blur. she couldn’t breathe. couldn’t think. tentten—the girl she had shared everything with, the girl who had promised she would never leave—was leaving her for someone else. for a robot. a robot, who had previously used, abused, broken and belittled tentten. was hitari really worth that little to her?

“i don’t want to hurt you,” tentten said, her voice breaking. “but i think it’s over. i need to be with her.”

the words echoed in hitari’s mind as she stood there, frozen in place. she wanted to scream, to beg tentten to stay, to remind her of everything they had. but instead, the words that came out of her mouth were cold and hollow. “if you leave, you’ll regret it.”

but tentten didn’t regret it. she left. and in doing so, she shattered hitaris world.

the days that followed were a blur of pain, confusion, and heartbreak. hitari couldn’t bring herself to see tentten with kaniki. She avoided them, hiding away in the corners of her mind, where the jealousy burned like a wildfire.

however, it wasn’t just jealousy anymore. it was madness. every time she saw them together—holding hands, whispering to each other, exchanging glances that hitari had once received—her mind shattered a little more. the anger that simmered beneath the surface turned into something darker, something uncontrollable. hitari couldn’t stop herself from thinking of ways to make them suffer, to make tentten realize the mistake she had made.

she started stalking their social media pages, obsessively scrolling through photos of them together. her heart twisted with every happy image, every smile that seemed so effortlessly given to kaniki. she would stay up late at night, staring at the screen, wondering what went wrong, wondering why she wasn’t enough. why she wasn't loved the way that stupid robot was. the jealousy slowly consumed her until it became all she could think about.

her friends noticed the change. they saw how hitari would snap at the smallest things, how her once vibrant personality had dulled into something cold and distant. she stopped laughing, stopped hanging out with them, and started to withdraw into herself.

one evening, as hitari sat alone in her room, the jealousy reached a boiling point. It was too much. tentten and kaniki were inseparable now, and hitari felt as though she were drowning. drowning in the love they shared, and the loneliness of her own mind. she needed to make them understand how much they had hurt her. she needed to make them feel the pain she had endured.

that night, hitari did something she would regret forever. she wrote a message to tentten. the words spilled out in a rush of bitterness and fury. "you’ll never be happy with her. she’s not who you think she is, she doesn't even want you. shes a robot. she’ll hurt you, just like everyone else has."

but before she could hit send, a wave of regret washed over her. this wasn’t who she was. this wasn’t the girl tentten had fallen in love with. she wasn’t supposed to be this angry, this consumed by jealousy. and yet, she couldn’t stop.

the following days were even worse. hitari’s thoughts became erratic, filled with images of tentten and rida—happy, laughing, untouched by the pain hitari felt. she couldn’t escape it. she started to lose track of time, her mind consumed with thoughts of revenge, thoughts of getting tentten back, thoughts of being happy again.

it was then that hitari realized how far gone she was. the jealousy had driven her mad, turning her into someone she didn’t recognize. she wasn’t just angry anymore; she was obsessed. and she hated herself for it.

in the end, it wasn’t just tentten who left her. It was herself. the girl who had once been whole, who had once believed in love and loyalty, had been swallowed by the darkness of jealousy. she had become a prisoner of her own mind, and there was no escape.

hitari never did send that message. but it didn’t even matter, did it? the damage had already been done. the friendship was shattered, and the love she had once held so dearly was now a distant memory, tainted by the insanity she had wrought with her own jealousy.
