Towa 4* Side Story
Pamper Me During the Dusk - Part 2
(Pay a Close Attention to the Letter's Scream!)
Tsubomi: So. Have you ever heard about kotodama before?
Towa: I mean yeah, since we’re an actress and all. So more or less I know about the word.
It’s like you can see a soul inside a word, as if they’re trying to speak to you, right?
Tsubomi: Correct. Exactly that.
Towa: Well unfortunately, this will be a mere writing test.
You just need to remember and write as what the guide tells you, so yeah, there will be no soul to talk to.
Tsubomi: That’s where you’re wrongー Even letters have a soul inside them!
The word message… The name is… Mojidama!! (Moji = Letter in Japanese)
Towa: Now pause right there. I don’t get about this calligraphy talk and that actually doesn’t matter,
But just to remind you, we’re not aiming to be good at th―
Tsubomi: As a sixth grader example, try to refer to ‘tou’ (討) from ‘toubatsu’ (討伐).
Towa: Earth to Tsubomi please?!
Tsubomi: Take a closer look at the letter. There must be something that resonates to your mind.
Towa: Nah, that’s just nonsense...
Tsubomi: FACE THE MOJIDAMA WITH ALL OF YOUR MIGHT!!!
Towa: Eek!? F- Fine, I get it...
Tsubomi: Accept your mind as what your heart desires.
By paying enough attention, there must be something that you can receive…!
Towa: Argh… It feels like I’m getting a Gestalt Collapse… ¹
... But actually.
By breaking the letter, you can see ‘gon’ (言) as a human, and then the ‘sun’ (寸) as a gun…? ²
I see, so this word is like a sketch about battle preparation.
So you can see the letter as someone who goes for a subjugation…! (“toubatsu ni mukau hito”)
Tsubomi: YOU’RE WROONG!!
Towa: Eeeeh...?? That was not it...?
Tsubomi: Mojidama is WAAAAY deeper than an ideograph.
I have told you before. This is all about the word message!
Towa: What kind of message are you supposed to receive from Japanese letters?!
And no, I’m not the kind of person who has a fixation about fonts!!
Tsubomi: Try to feel it again, Motosu.
The message from the ‘tou’ (討) letter… Is an unpleasant (indestructible) will, about how you won’t forgive the evil!
Listen carefully, focus with the mind, and gaze upon it with an open eye.
Then, you will be able to hear it. … That’s right―!!
Justice・Slash (Defeat the evils with the sword of justice)!!
Towa: Justice Slash?
Tsubomi: As you write the letters, you must keep the scenario in mind!
Justice・Slash!
Towa: N- No no no, isn’t it harder to understand if we’re using this way……
Tsubomi: It’s a scream from the depths of the soul!
Justice・Slash!!
Towa: No, absolutely not!! It's too embarrassing to do...!!
Tsubomi: Justice・Slash!!!
Towa: Aargh, fine, I get it!!
J- Justice・Slash!!
Tsubomi: Exactly! Justice・Slash (Defeat the evils with the sword of justice)!!
Picture an image (realization) of the soul who screams with an echo― Justice・Slash (then write the word as if you want to ‘kill’ (討つ) them)!
Towa: J- Justice・Slash (I- I won’t forgive them)!!
Tsubomi: Justice・Slash (Keep up that spirit, you must despise the evils)!!
Towa: Justice・Slash (One Strike for the First Blood)!!!
Tsubomi: JUSTICE・SLASH (‘TOUBATSU’ (討伐) IS SURELY BEING PROUD OF YOU NOW)!!!
Towa: JUSTICE・SLASH (I HAVE RECEIVED YOUR WILL VERY WELL NOOOOOOOW)!!!
Iroha: W… Wow……!!
They’re properly communicating just by the word “Justice・Slash”!
Mito: H… Hey, Iroha-chan.
Iroha: What’s wrong?
Mito: Mito… Is not sure, if this is okay to say…
…… But, you won’t learn the ‘batsu’ (伐) from ‘toubatsu’ (討伐) in elementary school, right…?
Isn’t it… Better, to use an easier word… Like ‘touron’ (討論)?
Iroha: Mito-chan.
Do you think we’re in the position to say anything about this?
Tsubomi: JUSTIIIIIIICE!!!!!!
Towa: SLAAAAAAASSHH!!!!!
Mito: … It seems that. Using Tsubomi’s method, you can have a strong impression, and it will become easier to remember.
Towa's Homeroom Teacher: Well then. As what have been told before, we’re doing a test today.
It will be easy if you’re paying enough attention with the paper.
Towa: … O… Ohh…!!!
(I… I can write it…! For this question, and that question, I’ve learnt every single one of it from Tsubomi’s lecturing session!
Even for the hard ones, it feels like I can write all of them in a go…!)
(B… But also……)
???: Justice・Slash (Kill / 討)!!
Dimension・Empty (Hole / 穴)!!
Violence・Melt (Heat / 暑)!!
Towa: (For the Love of God!!! Her voice is so loud inside my head!!!
Now I can’t actually comprehend the reading questions!!!)
(Just hoooow can I get through thiiiiiisーー?!?!?)
Towa: …………
Mito: S… She’s all exhausted, just because of a kanji test……
Kamira: So then, how’s the test result?
Iroha: She reached the passing grade!
Kaname-san also gave her a proud smile!
Tsubomi: I see, I see.
… Motosu has heard the Mojidama very well inside her mind.
Towa: I can’t……. Do it…… Anymore…… Too much…… Effort……
TL notes:
[1] Gestalt Collapse is a phenomenon of confusion that happened because you see the same word for too many times.
[2] Some kanjis are multiple strokes. So in this case, 討 is made of 言 (left) and 寸 (right).
