β
The Hand of the King is a militant and straightforward
man who tends to take whatever order he may have
very seriously. He dares not question the orders of his superiors - who, in this case, would have been the King
or the Queen - unless it is something truly stupid. They
are not against murder in the name of or for his king.
He knows his place as disposable, just like anyone else,
but he will still be dismayed by the loss of those whom
he is close to (this is the case for when the Giant had
been ordered to be killed). I do assume, however, that
they do still care for the soldiers under him due to the soldier's quarters (the lore room found in the castle).

β
In the game, Dead Cells, he will oftentimes be the final
boss of a run - making him a considerably tough
opponent. He is also much larger than most other
enemies in the game as well as the Beheaded (the
player character). It should also be noted that, even
after what was likely his death/being infected, they
were still loyal to the King. After the player desecrated
the body of the King, the Hand is visibly angered in
his next encounters.
