Vivienne's Guide to Boycotting the Triple-AAA Gaming Industry (and reclaiming creativity)
So.. the gaming industry is over. Triple AAA games are no longer selling as well as they used too, and the Quad-AAA game genre is killing every company known to man. So, it's time to end this. It's time for the indie games to reclaim their spot once more.
This is my guide to boycotting the gaming industry, and reclaiming your creativity.
- Block yourself from looking at and buying games that flaunt themselves as being Triple/Quad-AAA, or have major non-indie companies backing them. They will fail as fast as they got seemingly popular. Instead, you should focus more on the indie gaming side of things as they are the things to get hyped over. If you really have to, stop following the Game Awards or anything else. Follow the side of indies.
- Stop supporting any major companies as of right now. Instead of buying them, pirate them. If a game is too low rated, don't even bother pirating them, as they do not deserve it. Instead, use that money to buy indie games. If you don't have the money, first, ask the original creator if it's okay to pirate their game. And if they say yes, go ahead! After all, why let money stop what you can play?
- If you wanna go one step further, you may even choose to turn your games into backups and put them all into your PC, sell your consoles, and use emulation. And if you wanna go one step even further and turn full open source, you may use a open-source launcher like Playnite to play your games from now on!
