Leigan isn't the most social guy, but he can put that aside for the sake of getting stronger or learning something new. His style is supposed to be a mix of short and mid-long range with taijutsu and ninjustu, but right now it's mostly just chains and rupture slash at different levels of intensity. If he manages to lock down an enemy he can just drain them to death, but he can be aggressive and is supposed to be fairly mobile. I guess he would be a good combo with long range fighters, or sneaky builds, by holding down opponents so they can hit them easier. If he goes berserk then that's the only option. Someone like Sumio would be good for the ranged part, with 2 people restricting movement the opponent is probably not in the best place and depending on the situation Liegan can ignore the terrain by kinda spidermanning around and creating a web that only he can touch. Personality wise Sumio seems to appreciate someone doing the stuff he doesn't want to do, like actually punching people, and Leigan understands being lazy, especially because he wasn't allowed to be.
For the second version, Ayane seems the more compatible, since he can activate traps at a distance with his chains and try to reposition the enemy into them by grabbing them too. Personality wise they are probably just tollerating eachother, he doesn't hate her but it doesn't look like either of them would open up any soon, chances are she figures him out first, then it's out of my hands. They share the hobby of reading and pseudo crafting, but she may be offended by what he considers crafting.
Being near him in a melee is probably pretty scary for allies, he doesn't have the kind of control to avoid friendly fire yet but he does his best as long as he's not slipping into madness so it's not completely unviable. Worst case scenario he can switch to his chain sword/chain punch mode, not optimal but better than draining his friends by mistake.

Teacher Questionary/General Questions

What was the first thing your character does when they make it to the village?

Look for work I guess. He's not shameless enough to go directly to the Hokage equivalent but probably to some form of official. Something like "I heard you search for people willing to work, I have some skills that may be useful."

You may request another build of the same sex to become your roommate, otherwise it will be picked at random.

In character he wouldn't ask for anyone. Out of characer, Aisuke because it would be funny to have the 2 chain users in the same room. Or Sumio to corrupt Leigan into being lazy too.

What does your character do in their downtime?

Training, reading books on culture or different kinds of energy, exploring the village as far as he can get. He makes chain constructs for both fun and training, but they are temporary by nature so you have to catch him in the act to know.

What vibe does your character give off as a first impression?

A strange combination of determination and being done with life. Probably ends up looking unapproacable but it's not on purpopuse.

What is your character’s attitude within a classroom setting?

Paranoia, but that's always. He's attempting to approach this thing like a researcher, because for good or ill that's all he had as role models. Relatively polite, asks questions when needed, answers if necessary. Studies his classmates like books.
He kinda hates himself for it but he's convinced they are doing the same to him. Not good at all at hiding his emotions or intentions, but is not hostile, just distrustful. He's trying to figure out the whole teamwork thing, so he's actively attempting to not close up too much, both figuratively and literally.

What is chakra?

"The same thing the researchers called Mana I think. It's inside of me, I can make stuff happen with it, and apparently I have a lot more of it than normal people. Also I can take it away from people with my chains and if I take too much they die."

Do you know of the 12 basic Hand Seals?

"I know I can move my hands and make stuff happen, and that there is supposed to be a some pretty intense theory behind it, but I didn't have time to give it a name. The bastards just told me I was good at cantrips."

What is a Nindō?

"No idea. Probably something those guys called differently that I haven't found a translation for."

What does it mean to be a Shinobi?

"I'm not sure, it's the reason I was sent here. I'm going to assume being able to fight and use Mana are not enough to be one or I wouldn't be in school for it."

Final Move

97619966

I tried thinking about it a lot but I can't really come up with one big move for Leigan, he's more the combo type if that makes sense. So something like Chain Storm and Rupture Slash for death by a thousand cuts maybe? Each hit steals a little bit more of the charka of the opponent so in quick succession if they don't die from injury they will die of chakra deficiency.
Alternatively he will get access to better Chackra Mode and Element Spear at some point, so something like exploding lighting chains would be possible.

Dogen Questions

97634276

May as well anser this for Leigan since he's technically supposed to be a hybrid.

What does your build consider their best ninjutsu? Best is subjective to the person.

I'm not sure what counts as ninjutsu precisely but probably Rupture Slash. He's working on other applications with what the curriculum is, like eventually Element Blade/Spear but for now that's the only combat applicable one. If Dogen tells him that doesn't count then he will fall back to what he calls cantrips, which is Utility Jutsus, a lot of shiny lights and some arcs of lighting with almost no punch.

Is your build willing to show it off to Dogen or do they want to hide it?

Dogen is a professor, and very similar to the researchers he's used to, so he sees no reason to hide what he can do. He can't get better if he doesn't know what he's doing wrong.

How do they show it to Dogen

Either a lot of slashes with his chains in quick succession for Rupture Slash, or combining small lights to create a flashbang with utility. He wouldn't be hurt by a mild reaction, or even no reaction at all, the best he could hope for was silent scribbling before so even a single comment would take him by surprise

Things To Learn

97644453

I already talked about it a bit but for Leigan I was planning to go into Blade/Spear, maybe Weapon? Myabe Bullet. I considered armor but I'm not sure how useful it would be for lighting.
As for combinations, my other 2 ideas were based on them so as much as I am tempted I kinda want to save it for that if it ever happens. I may go for Storm actually, it kinda fits the general idea I had and he's supposed to be a nin/tai hybrid, I just need to figure out the budget.

Leigan is supposed to be a mutant with somewhat unstable genes, so awakening random KKGs later shouldn't be too farfetched for him. I was planning for something like a corrupted version of eyes or something, but at this point I may just go for an element combo and the special that makes it Dark. Maybe I should go for Light/Dark.

View Of "People" (Not a prompt)

When does someone stop being a person for him?

That's the fun thing, it's the opposite actually. Nobody is a person, everyone is a thing, even him, that's the only way he knows. He saw how the researchers treated each other, and how they treated the kids. There were other escape attempts and the researchers didn't hesitate to literally throw each other at the problem if it meant a slightly higher chance of not getting hurt. If it moves it's a subject, if it stops moving it becomes a thing, unless it starts moving again.
Somewhere deep down he feels that's wrong, he doesn't like being treated like a thing, he doesn't like seeing the other kids being treated like things either, but what other choice does he have when his most impressionable time was spent like that and he has trust issues? The most he can do for now is treat others like nice things at least, determining the difference between humans and things comes later. The realization will hurt.

First Room prompt

97645365

Leigan
How does your dorm room look after you're done unpacking?

Almost the same, he doesn't have much. A couple books under the bed/on the shelves, a couple of bags with simple and a bit ragged outfits, some strange stones here and there. All arranged in a vaguely circular way around him to be in easy reach of his chains at a moment's notice, and the actual travel stuff would just never get unpacked. He can snake his chains in more complex ways, but he's trying to be considerate of others.

How do you think your room will look by the time you graduate and you've had time to personalize it with stuff from the village?

Worse if anything. At teh start it would be neat and orderly because he has few things and is in constant paranoia about having to move, as time goes on he will get more stuff and relax more probably, which will lead to things out of the "circle" of belongings, stuff he's too lazy/doesn't care for enough to put back in its place, and various decorative stuff he may find around the place. He has vague hoarding tendencies, that he suppressed because of the needs to travel a lot.

How well do you split your space with your roommate(s)?

If we go by the urrent proposal he would get a 3 person room. He doesn't really need much space, so he's fully willing to put himself in a corner of the room with his circle of stuff. He may encroach on the other spaces as time goes on, not on purpuse, just because he would care less about it, but would tidy up if asked.

97645488

how do you act with them upon meeting each other?

Paranoia, as always, but he does plan to understand the whole thing so he would be making active efforts to get to know them. More by observing than asking, but wouldn't be too stingy with explainations if asked first. It would be slow going but he will open up by himself if left the chance to relax.
More precisely, with Sumio it was already discussed a bit, it would start almost professional and progress slowly probably. Sumio is chill and lazy, Leigan wishes he could be, but any meaningful connection would be slow forming unless they end up with shared hobbies.
For Aisuke is a bit more complex. Aisuke is interested in the chains, and the relationship will generally depend on how that is approached. Leigan can't read minds, but will answer any questions about his chains pretty openly, they are quite noticeable and he's used to it. Prying deeper than basic functions, like asking why he has them or where he comes from, would be met with more resistance. The real kicker would be if Aisuke tells him what the Sealing Chains mean to him and why he's so interested, that would change his view of the whole ordeal. In general Leigan would come to see Aisuke as a kind of little brother, and if the chain's nature is revealed he would feel somewhat responsible for him too.
Leigan would see his chains as a twisetd mockery of the original, a tool made for killing more than protecting. Depending on how bad things get he may start seeing himself as a monster, and would help Aisuke train specifically to take him down if he ever becomes one.

Second Room Prompt

How do you introduce yourself to your roommate?

Short mechanical introduction. Unused to names in general.

Do you try to get to know them?

Leigan would try to study and take notes about them, mostly by observation. He's not quite sure what to do with all the information but he hopes he will figure it out later. The notes are a mess only meant to be understood by him.

Any rules your character would lay out?

He's not the type to really do that, he's adaptable and tries to stay out of the way for the most part. The only thing he would say is to not touch the chains when they glow, but that's just a security measure in case his control slips.

How do you decorate your dorm? What’s the layout? What belongings did you bring with you? Do you buy anything in the market to bring to the dorm?

Already mentioned, but in general books and random things. Will probably fill up with notebooks too, unless he learns to use sealing scrolls. Some strange rocks that he finds around the places he reads about in the Book Of Gelel, to research later.
The search for hobbies may be reflected on the room too, but it would be contained in a small space to not cause too many problems.

If you do want to get closer to your roommate, what icebreakers do you try? If you dislike your roommate, what about living with them annoys your character?

Leigan will probably just randomly ask some strange questions about really mundane things as he goes, like what are fiction books or why does pasta have so many different shapes. For most things he just observes, and silently helps if it can be useful even if he doesn't really get why. Sumio will probably be asked why he sleeps so much at some point, especially since Leigan will assume it's a medical condition, and learning about it would be useful to learn medical arts.
Aisuke may be more hostile, but Leigan will do his best to not provoke or fall for any provocations, and will try to understand the reason for the aggression. From a logical standpoint anger doesn't solve any problems, hopefully the room survives when Leigan decides to just ask him why he's so angry, it may cause a feedback loop.
I don't think there will be any icebreakers by anyone involved, unless the other 2 anons care to correct me, it seems more like the ice will slowly melt with the affected people barely even noticing that something is changing.

What would your character be like to live with?

Like living with a scientist that doesn't know science, or some kind of robot. He will get more "human" in time.

Are they tidy and organized or messy and sporadic?

Both. When it comes to his own things he's pretty disorganized, because of a combination of being unused to having a lot of stuff and simply not caring. But when it comes to the enviroment he's very orderly, cleaning and fixing things by reflex because it's how he was forced to act. He likes his little corner of chaos in the order of the rest of the world.

Are they quiet or would they receive noise complaints?

Mostly quiet. His chains make noise sometimes but the way he uses them around the house tends to be relatively silent.

How do you divvy up chores?

Leigan will be cleaning even if he isn't asked to, as already mentioned. It's an instinctual process, his chains reorder things as he passes by, so after a grace period to get used to where things are supposed to go objects will start going back seemingly by themselves. If the other 2 are lazy enough they can just point him in the direction of chaos and wait for order to appear. Laundry would require setup by someone else but he would also do that if pointed at it. He uses Utility Jutsus to clean.

Does your character cook or only get takeout?

Basic survival cooking, barely. He's not picky when eating, his body can survive what most people woluldn't so he didn't really have to worry as much, and draining chakra can keep him going longer as well. He will cook if asked, but that probably will only happen once and never again. Will learn what real food is and may want to learn to cook properly, but it's very low on the list of normal human things he will come to care about.

Do you try and get to know your neighbors or does your character leave them alone?

Same approach as the roommates, but more from a distance. I imagine some of the others would pester him more than his own roommates, but he's not going to actively avoid anyone. He may find them annoying, and he may not understand what they want and why, but he's trying to learn. There is a reason why they were all put in this place instead of isolated like back in the lab, and he plans to figure out why.

Is this the start of a new friendship or a bitter rivalry? Or both?

I think it would go more in the direction of friendhip. Leigan will get attached, it may be faster or slower and he may no realize it himself but it will happen. One day he will just instinctively protect someone without knowing why. If needed he may pretend to be evil. I may be misremembering but I think Aisuke anon mentioned that Aisuke doesn't want to kill people, and Leigan would take it upon himself to give him a reason to get over that. I'm not sure if that counts as rivalry, and it's pretty far in general.

Non Roommate interest and Dialogue examples

Leigan
Is there someone in your class that has caught your build's interest that isn't your roommate?

Probably Kurayami because I think her status as an experiment is more well known, and she feels similar. Also Kazuyuki because Leigan can recognize the same "Tired of life" look on him and would wonder how he got to that point since it's a pretty rare look on people from what he saw in his travels to the moon village.
Also Iwao, because he's a rock that lives. As much as Leigan may hate it, he does have the nature of a researcher, so studying things out of the ordinary is something that interests him. I don't think anyone uses strange energies yet, but that's also something that would catch his attention for the futre. The strange individuals in his class do make each of the others stand out less in comparison.

What is it like to talk to you? Are you animated? Monotone? Maybe you speak quickly? Or have a deep voice? Some kind of vocal tick?

Formal tone, with scientific and complex words sprinkled in even when not necessary. He learned to speak from listening to researchers and books/research notes, then from travel logs. Tries to be respectful and polite but ends up being too blunt instead most of the time, calling people with overly descriptive nicknames or "human". Will get better over time but will probably never lose the bluntness.
Has trouble remembering to use names, they were not used at the lab, so gives the idea he forgot the name. He didn't, he has pretty good memory. Calls chakra mana, it's the last remnant of the strange terms the researchers used, the rest was overwritten by a combination of book learning and teaching but that one is too ingrained to get rid of.
People don't exist, only subjects and items, so he tends to refer to peopel as "it". He is starting to mimick normal speech because of proximity, even without understanding the meaning, but until then he will tend to lapse back into uncaring researcher mode.

Examples of dialogue would be.
"The tired one(Sumio) comunicated its desire to sleep, I advise avoiding the room for the time being."
"I saw the cat(Nekomaru) executing a strange ritual with the seaweed(Kisui) in the courtyard. They seem to have ceased but I have yet to determine the effects." (they were just playing)
"Greetings, have you finished the morning's nutrition intake? I recall the researcher(Dougen) gave us a text to decipher, have you made any progress?" (Attempt at small talk during breackfast.)
"Humans are fragile, the teacher must possess a high level of skill to allow training with no permament repercussions. I wonder if I will be capable of that in the future."

Sparring Prompt Answers

What was your answer for your homework: “What is your Nindō? Your Shinobi Way?”

In character it's still too early to decide, he still doesn't understand what it really means but he does understand that it's an important thing so he doesn't want to disresoect it by choosing a random one half-heartedly.
Out of character I do have a couple of ideas for it depending on how things go, but it will probably end up being some variation of "protecting what I hold dear". Of course his personal brand of protection will vary wildly depending on other factors but will be fairly unhortodox regardless. If things really go to shit and Leigan goes rogue I don't think he will need a Nindou.

How does your character feel about battling this opponent?

Like he would fighting any of his classmates. he doesn't really want to fight, but it's part of the training so he has to.
With Kazuyuki in particular there is probably this tacit understanding that neither of them wants to be there, but that's not a reason to hold back either.

How does your character act in combat/banter?

Leigan doesn't have banter, yet, he just quietly fights his opponent, completely focused on studying everything of the fight, bboth to adapt to any changes and to recall it later.
This will change as time goes on and he becomes more "human", but for now he acts every bit like the weapon he was created to be, cold, calculating, and almost mechanical.
That is unless Rage triggers, then he almost regresses to a more childlike state, laughing and "playing" with his opponets. Still studying them but more like a little kid that slowly tears off the limbs of a bug while laughing, than a proper researcher like ususal. That part of him is somehwat still there normally, just repressed.

What strategy does your character have in mind when facing off against them?

Since this is a spar and he doesn't want to kill his classmate he will try to go for a less lethal approach. Using the chains as wips to bludgeon rather than cut or pierce, draining a small amount with each hit to go for exhaustion. Using them as makeshift armor if engaged in close quarters, wrapping them around his arms and legs. It's unlikely to work right off the bat but if he manages to distract the opponent long enough he would try to just restrain him with chains from the ground, that isn't easy to get out of.
Rupture slash would only be used to deflect or counter other ranged attacks at this stage. A real fight would be different.
In rage state everything becomes chains, grabbing and throwing the opponent replaces trying to hold them still, rupture slash becomes more common to harrass from all sides. It's a game to inflict suffering for fun, to see reactions. It's not particularly refined but much more intense than normal.

What Jutsu, Technique or Talent would you want to see the most from your build?

If this happens before any lesson from Suzaku then nothing in particular, maybe some utility jutsu as distraction to show he does have a vague base in that and isn't all taijutsu. Otherwise Leigan would try to copy Suzaku's style but making a sword out of chains. He still doesn't get the meaning behind the style and is missing the point so he would copy it as much as he can instead of adapting it to his chains.

If you could choose, would you prefer a draw, victory, or defeat outcome?

Since they both have rage I think it would be kinda cool to have a draw wher they take each other out of rage at the same time. But I think Kazuyuki goes out or rage by himself when the battle is over while Leigan would need to be knocked out at this point in time so maybe it would count as Kazuyuki's win?
Anyway other than that, which may be hard to setup, I'm fine with whatever. Leigan can grow from both winning and losing at this point.
