You've Forgotten Nissan Qashqai Key Fob: 10 Reasons Why You Don't Really Need It
Reasons Why Your Nissan Qashqai Key Fob Won't Work
The Qashqai has a distinct SUV-like appearance due to its larger dimensions. Additionally, the ride on 19-inch wheels in Ti and ST-L models can be a bit spongy at times. The front tyres may lose grip on rough surfaces and its CVT might occasionally exhibit wrist-flexing torque steer.
This is usually caused by an unresponsive battery that can be replaced in just a few minutes. Make sure that the replacement battery has the same voltage, size, and specification.

Water Damage
One of the most common reasons that a Nissan key fob will give the "key ID incorrect" message is due to water damage. The key fob comes with rubber seals that protect the chip inside, but long-term exposure to moisture can cause it to stop functioning properly. It's typical to observe this if your key fob has been dropped in the ocean or in a pool. But it can also occur when it becomes wet from rain or soapy hands.
If your key fob has been exposed to water for a prolonged duration, it might have to be cleaned using isopropyl alcohol, or electronic cleaner. It may also need to be sent to an expert to repair or replace it.
If your key fob is in need to be replaced, it's a relatively simple procedure. Make sure you have the proper multipack (CR2032, 3V). Then, open the front and back cases using the small flathead screwdriver. You'll need to remove the retaining clips made of metal and remove the battery that was in place, and then put in the new one. After reassembling your fob, put the mechanical key back into its place and make sure it functions as intended. If it doesn't it, you'll need to bring it to an Nissan dealer or professional auto locksmith for replacement of the chip. Fortunately, the chip is not usually damaged by water exposure and this shouldn't be a major expense.
Dead Coin Battery
Another reason that the reason your Nissan Qashqai key fob may not function is that the battery inside is dead. The batteries last for about three to five years, but can become faulty over time when the fob is dropped frequently. You can replace the battery with a new one, but be sure that it's the same size and voltage as the original. If you choose to use another battery, it may cause the key to have an incorrect key ID which will prevent it from paired with your vehicle.
The most effective method to replace the battery in the Nissan Qashqai key fob is by removing the key fob using an incredibly small screwdriver with a flat head. The screwdriver should be inserted into a small cut on the bottom of the key fob. The screwdriver should be gently twisted to split the two halves. Then, remove the old CR2025 button cell battery and replace it with an alternative one after taking note of its location in the fob.
Check keyless entry system for any dirt or water damage prior to installing the new battery. If so clean the terminals with the smallest amount of isopropylethanol. Also, make sure the pole cables are plugged in correctly - they should be connected to the negative and positive poles of the battery, respectively.
Troubleshooting
If your Nissan Qashqai's keys fob doesn't function after being exposed to pure rainwater or clean tap water, this could be a sign that there's a problem with the internal chip. You'll require a new keyfob if you are unable to fix the issue by replacing the battery. If you dropped the key fob on the ground and it stopped functioning immediately it's likely because it has damaged the internal chip. If you clean the chip with isopropyl alcohol and paper towel and then replace it with the key fob, you will generally get it back to working.
Key ID Incorrect is a common error that you can see on the dashboard of your car. The vehicle is not able to recognize the key fob and therefore will not allow the vehicle to start. This issue can be caused by various ways, including water damage, problems undetectable in the key fob circuitry or RFID interference.
The key fob will not function when the 12 volt batteries are dead or fail to provide enough electrical current. This will affect the Nissan Qashqai's keyless system central locking, as well as the ability to start the engine using the key fob. If you're unable lock or unlock the door manually You should examine the batteries in your key fob to make sure they are in good condition. You can also try reconnecting the battery in order to reset your transmitter.
Reprogramming
If the key fob was not submerged in saltwater it should be able to be restored to its original state with a simple wash of clean water. You may also try cleaning the electronic chip using isopropyl alcohol or an electronic cleaner. If these don't work It could be the time to replace the entire key fob with a new one.
If your Nissan Intelligent Key is still not working, there could be an issue with the connection between it and the car. To reconnect it, begin by turning the key in the ignition, without turning on the car. Continue to do this until the hazard light flashes twice. Then, turn off your vehicle and remove the key.
Open the fob compartment of your vehicle's fob compartment. It's usually on a door jamb, or the handle of the door for the driver. Find the small button labeled "program" and press it. When the process is complete you will hear a chime.
