ABOUT CALYPSO
From his mother, Calypso Rhae R. Konishi inherited more than just a love for storytelling—he inherited a deep, abiding passion for film. The youngest in a wealthy Filipino-Spanish-Japanese family, he was the only one among his siblings who truly followed in their mother’s footsteps. While they each carved their own paths, Calypso was drawn to the world she lived and breathed.
As a child, whenever he was left alone at home, his mother would bring him to work. On set, he was surrounded by actors, directors, stylists, and crew members—people full of life, passion, and stories. What began as quiet curiosity soon turned into something deeper. Watching his mother bring characters to life and guide entire productions mesmerized him. In those early moments, a seed was planted—one that would grow into a calling he couldn't ignore.
Calypso spent his early years in Spain, growing up alongside his older brothers, Zaid Yuriel and Kaelum Magdi. The three were inseparable—sharing toys, secrets, and even a bedroom, despite each having their own. But as time passed, life pulled them in different directions. As the youngest, Calypso was the last to leave, and eventually, he was sent to live in Japan with their father.
There, his camera became his quiet companion. Through its lens, he documented his world—moments that spoke when words couldn’t. He stayed close to his mother through messages and video calls, constantly sharing his dreams of creating films just like hers. His devotion didn’t go unnoticed. Moved by his unwavering passion and dedication, the family entrusted Calypso with the future of Rubio K. Talent & Film, recognizing him as the only son who had truly embraced and loved his mother’s craft.
In Japan, Calypso immersed himself in his studies and joined film workshops, gradually building the foundation for his future. At first, he was quiet and reserved, but over time, those around him began to see another side—one filled with creativity, warmth, and depth. Though naturally introverted, he carried a presence that made people feel at ease. With each frame he captured, he told stories not with words, but with emotion.
Music became another quiet refuge for Calypso. With his father’s gentle guidance, he learned to play the guitar and was soon encouraged to join a local band—a space where music became another language for his emotions and imagination. It was another piece of himself uncovered, another way to be heard.
When he found out that both of his brothers had permanently moved to the Philippines, Calypso didn’t hesitate. The chance to reunite after so many years apart was one he couldn’t pass up. Now, he’s in his senior year at the University of the Philippines Diliman, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Film. His love for the creative process behind the scenes has only deepened, and now, he's slowly finding his place at his mother’s agency—where childhood wonder is beginning to turn into real, purposeful work.
Though he’s expected to take the reins one day, Calypso refuses to lean on privilege. He’s determined to earn every role, every credit, every moment—learning the ropes from the ground up. He’s come a long way from the quiet boy trailing behind his mother on set, but his journey is just beginning. His grounded nature and quiet brilliance continue to inspire admiration from both peers and mentors.
Lights, cameras, and dreams in motion. He may not be the one in front of the camera—but behind it, he brings stories to life. And that’s exactly where he belongs.

The Childhood Friend
Jiro Lawren D. Lucien-Inoue. Long before their paths ever crossed, fate had already begun weaving their stories together. Their fathers—best friends since high school—had built a bond so deep it naturally extended into the lives of their children. Every winter, Jiro’s family would return to Japan, and like clockwork, he and Calypso would find each other again in the quiet corners of the neighborhood, drawn to the same playgrounds that had become their shared sanctuary. In the beginning, Calypso lingered at the edges, too shy to speak to the younger boy. But year after year, something shifted. The holidays became less about tradition and more about reunion. Slowly, the awkward silences gave way to laughter, and the two grew inseparable—mirroring the friendship that had once bound their fathers. When college came, distance didn’t break them—it only deepened their connection. Calypso made the leap, moving permanently to the Philippines to study alongside Jiro at the University of the Philippines Diliman. Between lectures and lunch breaks, they carved out moments to reconnect, their bond growing stronger with each passing day. It was in that familiar rhythm of campus life that Calypso met Maddi—Jiro’s ride-or-die, the kind of friend who felt like home. And soon, she became his, too. The three of them formed a circle that felt unshakable, a quiet force of loyalty and love. Together, they faced the chaos of growing up, the weight of expectations, and the beauty of becoming—always side by side.
The College Friend Maddison Mavis Pierce. At first glance, you’d think their friendship started in childhood—like Calypso and Jiro’s—given how close they are. But in truth, Calypso and Maddi only met through Jiro in college. Calypso, being Calypso, was too shy to even say hello at first. But Maddi had already made up her mind: she was going to be his friend. She told him that even before he moved to the Philippines, they were already friends in her head—because Jiro never stopped talking about him. And just like that, she was right. Something clicked. The bond formed quickly, and they became constant companions. The first few months in the Philippines weren’t easy for Calypso. Everything was unfamiliar—new country, new people, a different pace of life. But with Jiro and Maddi by his side, everything felt a little less draining, a little less lonely, and a lot more like home. With them around, he never truly felt like a stranger. Even though Maddison went to a different school, their trio never drifted. She’d call out of the blue just to pester them—and it always worked. But Calypso didn’t mind at all. He was just grateful to have friends who truly felt like his own. To him, they weren’t just friends—they were family. The kind you choose. The kind that shows up without being asked, and makes even the hardest days feel bearable.
