LCK WILL INTRODUCE 'LOAN PLAYERS' STARTING THIS SUMMER

A loan player system will be introduced starting from the 2024 LCK (League of Legends Champions Korea) Summer Split.

LCK, which hosts the Korean professional league for 'League of Legends (LoL)' esports, announced on the 15th that it will introduce a loan player system starting from this year's Summer Split.

Riot Games, which operates LoL eSports in eight regions around the world, is introducing a rental system to several regional leagues starting in 2024, and the LCK has also decided to keep pace with this direction.

LCK cited ‘improved competitiveness’ as the reason for introducing the loan player system.

An LCK official said, "Players with less experience can resolve the stagnant growth due to lack of experience by being loaned to other teams and guaranteed the opportunity to play," adding, "(The rental system) will have a positive effect in increasing the competitiveness of the league" He explained.

From the perspective of a team sending out a player on loan, they can check the player's potential by renting out a player who has not had a chance to play, and the team that brought in a loaned player can expect to improve their short-term performance by accepting a competitive player.

However, in order to loan a player, he must be registered on the team's roster.

However, it is not possible to send a player out on loan immediately after signing with a team, and only after one split has passed since signing with the team.

The loaned team (lease team) cannot loan the player back to another team, and a player who has been loaned for two consecutive years can only be loaned after one split.

Only rental of players between the rental team and the rental team is allowed, and under any circumstances, rental of players between three parties is prohibited.

Loaned players cannot be traded within the rental period.

Additionally, rentals are only allowed within the same area.

Players from the LCK roster cannot be loaned to a foreign team.

Additionally, there is a limit to the games a loaned player can play in for the loaned team depending on the number of games played in the previous split.

If a player played in more than 50% of the team's total number of LCK games in the previous split, the player can only participate in LCK CL games for the rented team and cannot participate in LCK games.

If a player played in more than 50% of the team's total number of LCK CL games in the previous split, the player can only participate in LCK games with the rental team and cannot participate in LCK CL games.

If a loaned player has not played in a competition in the previous split or has not played in more than 50% of the team's total number of games in both the LCK or LCK CL, the rental team may loan the player to the LCK or LCK CL at its option.

Players must be classified as one of the players and be allowed to compete in only one league.

The number of players available for loan is also limited.

The total of players on loan and players on loan from the team cannot exceed two.

You cannot send two players on loan to the same team, nor can you receive two players on loan from the same team.

A player can only be loaned to the same team for a maximum of one season, and it is not possible to loan a player to the same team again after the one-season rental period has ended.

However, the player can be sent on loan to another team.

The lease period is at least one split and at most one season.

Loan applications and approvals can only be made during the off-season, after the domestic split and international competitions in which the team has played have ended.

The rental system will be applied from the 2024 Summer Split, and detailed information can be found in the LCK rulebook.
