kohaku

Notes:
• Kohaku is a very lore heavy character, this lore can be hard to understand and you often have to read stories multiple times to be able to process it all. Her lore is very interesting but in my experience it's not something you'll be able to understand right away.
• This is all in my opinion, if you have any questions feel free to contact me through twitter or curiouscat!
• I used she/her to refer to kohaku in this guide, this is just a headcanon.
• Due to being in two units, there are more stories to read than there are for the rest of alkakurei. Good luck soldier!
• There are no links to translations, if you're having trouble finding a translation I'm happy to help.

Reccomended Reading Order:

Other stories she appears in:
These are usually other character's feature scout or gacha stories that she has a small appearance in but not enough to warrant a proper place in the list above.

  • Past, Present and...
  • Bee's Needs
  • Recipe for Idols
  • A New Game Roll's Around
  • Lucky Scramble
  • Stormcloud Fumble
  • Sweet Sweet Hunger
  • Fruitful OCTOBER
  • Sweet Hunt
  • The Happiness of Spreading Love
  • BIBLION
  • A Moment of Nonchalance

Important stories:

  • Chapter 5 of the main story - I reccomend reading the majority of the main story if you can for crazy:b, but they only start focusing on Kohaku in the latter half of chapter 5 so that's all you have to worry about for her.
  • Honey Bee - A cute story, it's great at giving more context to crazy:b as characters.
  • A Dark Night's Passing - The formation of Double Face, quite important for that reason.
  • Spider - Similar to Honey Bee. Babies first halloween! Very cute story with a lot of HiMERU, Rinne and Niki acting like older brothers to Kohaku content.
  • Sakura, Sakura - Kohaku's FS story, a quick and simple read but very nice.
  • Secret Service - Ignore all the Godfather parts for your own sanity. A very fun story! It shows off Kohaku's intelligence quite well and explores the lack of communication between Double Face and how that affects their dynamic. It also adds context to Sudden Death's plot.
  • Sudden Death - A very heavy story. It's also very long, but it's an extremely important read. It has a huge lore dump and introduces us to one of Kohaku's sisters in person.
  • A Curious Step Foreward Sorry this is probably my Nagisa bias but this story KILLED me. Read it immediately.
  • Spring Evening's Respite - A very nice story. It shows off Kohaku's character development very well and is overall just fun and cute. 10/10 no name yet made me cry.
  • Last Mission - Where do I even begin with this story...? I don't think its well written at all but it's extremely important for both her and Double Face. There's a lot of scenes with her and Tsukasa which is great to see as their dyanmic is very important to Kohaku's character. Don't get your hopes up high for the quality of writing but be prepared for the amount of things that it throws at you. Also it feels like spring evening's respite was completely ignored for it so if you enjoyed that story you'll probably feel like ripping your hair out.

Other stories:

  • Antique Legend - In my opinion it's a very long and boring read. There's a bit of comedy and interesting bits, but it's not the most important story Kohaku wise (despite it literally being an event where she's a 5*.) It does touch on some interesting bits of her character but I wouldn't make it your priority to read if you're not a fan of long stories.
  • Nightclub, Hot Limit, Number 8, Ariadne - The other crazy:b events, she doesn't play a major role in any of but they're still good to have read. Honestly I still heavily encourage you to read them since crazy:b is such a big part of her story
  • All of her idol stories, Oukawa vs Suou, A Fragrance that Deepens Friendship - They're all cute... I reccomend reading idol stories for just about any character since theyre short and easy to digest.
  • One Centimeter High World, A Trip Down Memory Lane, Idol Talk - Mitsuru, Jun and Hiyori's idol story's respectively. They're very cute!
  • Bankara Grafitti - She's in distress like the whole story... it's good to see how she reacts in unfamiliar situations especially when they don't go her way. It's also just a fun story! Everything about it is unhinged.
  • Fruitful OCTOBER, Stormcloud Fumble, Lucky Scramble - Haku cameos :) Read when you're desperate for Kohaku content
  • Sweet Hunt, Sweet Sweet Hunger, BIBLION Yeah she's barely in either of these and theres nothing interesting abt her lines in either story
  • La Mort - She doesn't get a lot of screen-time (because god forbid they take the focus away from the Sakumas) but she's there and the actual movie parts of the story go pretty hard. Doesn't do much for her but I love La Mort.
  • Romantic?Date - Romantic?Date does have its odd moments, but it also has some cute moments with Kohaku. She has a lil monologue at some point abt how she views crazy:b and how grateful she is to them.
  • Bees Needs, Past, Present and..., Recipe for idol's, A New Game Rolls Around, The Hapiness of Spreading Love, A Moment of Nonchalance The other bees and aira's feature scout stories. She features in all of them but its nothing crazy.
