Chapter 8: Deus Ex Machina
Tsubomi: Good morning.
Iroha: Ah, Tsubomi-san! Good morning!
Tusbomi: Morning. You're early.
Iroha: Ehehe, I was a bit excited so I ended up coming early.
Tsubomi: To be excited right before the audition, you've got some courage.
Iroha: Not at all!
Iroha: It's just that I'm glad to be able to perform a new play.
Tsubomi: Fufu, the same Senju as always.
Iroha: Hehe, you think so?
Iroha: Back when I joined Denki, there were troubling times, but at some point, I started being able to get through them with everybody.
Iroha: When I heard that the audition was going to be the two of us, I started to feel nervous and anxious.
Iroha: And thanks to Towa-chan and the pizza party yesterday, and learning about what was going on with you, it reinforced what I was thinking.
Iroha: I think that whoever of us gets the lead role, it will be a wonderful Denki-like performance of "Faust".
Tsubomi: ...
Iroha: And also, thinking about what kind of "Faust" you will play, I just can't stop feeling excited and restless in anticipation...
Iroha: It just fills me with joy.
Tsubomi: No, first and foremost is to have fun, that's the Denki way.
Iroha: Oh good! Tsubomi-san, you have fun too!
Tsubomi: Will do. Good luck today.
Iroha: Thanks! Good luck to you too!
Kaname: Come in~.
Tsubomi: Excuse me.
Kaname: Sorry for calling you here after the audition.
Tsubomi: No worries. Did you need something...?
Machiko: Tsubomi. It's probably a bit late to be asking this after everything, but are you feeling overwhelmed at all?
Tsubomi: I'm fine. Thanks for asking.
Kaname: Tsubomi, you're smart so I'm sure you know about all of us here at Denki, but if there is anything, don't hesitate to speak to us, okay?
Tsubomi: ...Alright.
Kaname: Of course, our job here is to put on performances, but first and foremost, I am an adult to look over you students.
Machiko: If you guys hold your head up high, then we all here do too. A theatre troupe is nothing without their actors.
Tsubomi: Got it.
Kaname: So, don't push yourself too hard. It's a good thing this time wasn't a serious situation, but we still all worry about you.
Tsubomi: Understood.
Tsubomi: Sorry for making you all worry...
Kaname: Ahh, that's not what I meant! I just meant to not push yourself too hard.
Kaname: When I told Iroha that, she was like "Of course not, I look forward to Faust!" with a massive grin on her face.
Tsubomi: Fufu, sounds like Senju.
Kaname: Hey, Tsubomi. What's Denki's motto?
Tsubomi: To have fun?
Kaname: That's right. So I think you're going to be able enjoy this play this time around.
Kaname: Right, boss?
Machiko: Yeah, there might be a bit of pressure on you, but you knew that going into the audition, didn't you?
Tsubomi: T-that's...
Machiko: I'm relying on you, Faust.
Tsubomi: ...!!
Tsubomi: Got it!
Tsubomi: I wonder if this is the time to call them?
Tsubomi: But, it might be awkward to change topic...
Tsubomi: L-lets just send a text.
Tsubomi: Mum. Dad. How you feeling now? I'm contacting you regarding the next play.
Tsubomi: The play is going to be "Faust". It's an old play, but our troupe, Denki has arranged the contents, and I'm...
Tsubomi: I'm the lead... So I will definitely be on screen a lot.
Tsubomi: Also, about the mock exams, from my own assessment, it looks like a good result.
Tsubomi: And the other day, everyone at Denki came over to my place for a pizza party. We took a bunch of photos that I'll send over.
Tsubomi: I'm embarassed to say that I don't really do this kind of thing, but I'm doing well. So there's no need to worry.
Tsubomi: Let's all catch up together someday.
Tsubomi: ...And send.
Tsubomi: Uwaa!? Mum!?
Tsubomi: H-Hello?
Tsubomi's mum: Hello, Tsubomi!? That text! Gosh! DOn't be shy, just call me! You surprised me!
Tsubomi: S-s-surprised? Because of the lead role?
Tsubomi's mum: That did surprise me, but you did already say y0ou were going to take the lead role! I mean the photos! Your dad was all like "Oh how cute"!
Tsubomi: Is dad doing well?
Tsubomi's mum: He hasn't smiled that widely in a long time! OF course he's doing well! I was so glad, I called you.
Tsubomi: Fufu, I'm glad he enjoyed that.
Tsubomi:s mum: Of course! What dad doesn't enjoy seeing their daughter smile!
Tsubomi: You're just exaggerating.
Tsubomi: But he really is that glad! We know that you're doing fine, but being able to see it puts us at ease!
Tsubomi: I see...
Tsubomi: It probably won't be soon, but one day, we'll definitely go to Tokyo to see you perform.
Tsubomi: Got it. I'll be waiting...
Tsubomi's mum: Until then, take care of yourself. Do your best for the lead role.
Tsubomi: Thanks. You take care of yourself too. See ya.
Tsubomi: Let's do this. I can't afford to lose to the Dark Organisation after all.
