aerei's mental health awareness marathon!

welcome! for national mental health awareness month this year, i am using my platform to host streams that allow you to contribute to mental health research — all for free! last year, we raised $77.00 as a community after around 120 hours of streaming. my goal this year is to surpass that donation amount, and stream for longer!

how does it work?

  1. keep this stream open to earn channel points. for every hour you keep this stream open, you will earn about 300 channel points. you can earn more per hour if you are a twitch subscriber as well!
  2. then, redeem those points using twitch's channel point redemption system (redeem 'mental health research funds'!). for every redemption, i will donate $0.10 to BBRF at the end of this month. see more at 'who does this money go to?'

how can i donate to the funds directly instead of using channel points?

you can do so through paypal, streamlabs tips, or venmo! if possible, please state in a note that your donation is for the marathon, or else i will consider it a donation for myself instead.

who does this money go to?

all twitch primes, subs, mediashare tips, etc. during this month will go directly to the marathon donation fund — not me! specifically, we will be supporting the brain and behavior research foundation. the BBRF (formally NARSAD) is a nonprofit organization that awards research grants to scientists who specialize in neuroscience and psychiatry in order to bring the world new treatments for disorders such as ADHD, mood and bipolar disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia, and more. they have awarded a total of $450mil in grants so far. these streams aim to help contribute to those funds. every penny counts!

why do we do this?

i was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder back in 2022. studies in borderline personality disorder are one of many that BBRF helps to fund, which has led to developments in DBT, brain stimulation, and other psychotherapy methods that have ultimately helped alleviate my symptoms over these past two years of being diagnosed. my initial goal with these streams was to help give back to the people who have helped me get to where i am today, albeit, indirectly. by supporting this marathon, and subsequently supporting mental health research, you are helping to support my recovery from a disorder as debilitating as BPD.

other notes . . .

  • i will do my best to keep the stream up 24/7 for the entirety of may, but if i ever need to go offline, i will announce updates related to the streams uptime on my discord server.
  • if you'd like to support me directly, you can do so through ordering a commission, joining my patreon, sending a donation and specifying in a note that it's for me, or simply dropping me a follow on all my social media platforms!

thank you for supporting this marathon, and remember — you are loved! divider
