MangaPark Instructions
V1
Welcome to MangaPark! We're thrilled to have you here. To ensure that our community upholds a positive and respectful environment, we have set guidelines outlining our expectations at MangaPark.
Overview of the Instructions
- Expected Behavior
This section will go over behavior that is expected from all users. The content in this section will explain the do's and don'ts of MangaPark and how to report rule-breaking content. - Review Guidelines
This section will go over the review guidelines and will explain how to make a good review for you and others to enjoy. - Ban & Warning System
This section explains the ban and warning system at MangaPark along with insight on how to know if you are talking to a moderator.
Expected Behavior
MangaPark is a community built on kindness and respect towards other users. To ensure that our community is held to these standards, all users are expected to follow these guidelines:
General Conduct
- Treat everyone you encounter on MangaPark with respect: Everyone has the right to be respected, MangaPark is no exception when it comes to these terms. Treat people how you want to be treated.
- Hate speech, which includes, racism, harassment, and sexism is prohibited: Hate speech is public speech that expresses hate or encourages violence towards a person or group based on something such as race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation. Any instances of hate speech should be reported while not interacting with the offending user(s).
- Personal attacks or harassment is not tolerated: This is considered bullying and will be met with a ban. It is recommended that you do not make an attempt to engage or argue back with the offender(s) as it can escalate in to something worse.
- Excessive reporting is not allowed: All reports are bound to be seen by a moderator, please do not spam report. Spam reporting adds to the work-load of moderation and is counterproductive. If a user needs to notify a website moderator then do so in the Discord.
Comment Section Guidelines
- On-topic discussion: When commenting on an entry, users should keep on-topic conversations which relate to the entry. Purposefully derailing conversations will receive a warning. It can be relatively easy to de-rail a conversation that first meant to be about an entry, if a conversation naturally derails from the original topic, move it to messages.
- Marking Spoilers: A spoiler is usually defined as a remark or piece of information which reveals important story elements that could ruin other users' reading experiences. To avoid comment deletion, use the markdown for spoilers
<spoiler></spoiler>
. - Spamming and advertisement is not allowed: Spamming is the use of messaging systems to send multiple unsolicited messages (spam) to large numbers of recipients for the purpose of commercial advertising, non-commercial proselytizing, or any prohibited purpose (especially phishing), or simply repeatedly sending the same message to the same user. Any instance of spamming or advertisement will be instantly met with a ban. Users are allowed to share relevant links to entries, such as MangaDex and scanlation sites.
- Do not engage in flame wars: A flame war is an argument consisting entirely or largely of flames (attacks) by various parties that serve only to escalate the dispute. These arguments create a toxic environment at MangaPark. Any instance of a flame war will get the offender(s) officially warned and/or banned. Disengage and report the situation instead of retaliation.
Reporting System
- Use the report system responsibly: The report system is a crucial part of the MangaPark community, as it helps identify rule breaking content. However, abusing the report system with spam reports, joke reports, and untrue information disrupts moderation. Reports should only be made if rule-breaking content has been found. If a user is unsure of a rule break then refer to the instructions or the Discord.
- Reports should only be submitted if rule violations are found: If there is no reason that fits with a report, type down more information in 'explanation.' If multiple rule violations are found then it is recommended to add the information in 'explanation.'
Profile Guidelines
- Profiles should be appropriate: User profiles should adhere to community guidelines and remain suitable for everyone. Profiles that include explicit material ( e.g., Boobs, Strings, Genitalia, Nipples, Thongs, G-strings, Penises, etc.) will be removed. Racism, hate speech, and any discriminatory content is strictly prohibited. Any profile that does not conform with these guidelines will receive an offical warning or ban.
- No impersonation: Impersonation is pretending to be another person you are not. Do not create profiles that impersonate, other users, public figures, or moderators. Profiles meant to deceive others will face Moderator action.
- No advertising: Sharing external links that are not relevant to comics is not allowed. Using external links to push unrelated content is punishable by ban.
Review Guidelines
Reviews help users share their reading experience and guide others in deciding whether to read an entry. This section explains how to make a good review that is both meaningful and informative.
How to Write a Good Review
- Limit pronoun usage: Pronouns tell rather then show, in a review, showing is crucial to understanding. All of the best reviewers try to minimize pronouns.
- Be descriptive: When deciding whether to read a series or not, some people like the read reviews and see what a series has to offer. It would be annoying to read a review that offers no reasons for liking/disliking a series, that is why it is important to add detail.
- Consider different perspectives: When writing a review, it is good to try to appeal to other readers or possible readers. Instead of focusing solely on likes/dislikes, try to widen your perspective on what people may or may not like.
What to Avoid when Writing a Review
- No one-word or extremely short reviews: Reviews like "good" or "could be better" are extremely discouraged when reviewing, users can comment these words on entries.
- Avoid bias and excessive negativity: While criticism is welcome, reviews made to rant about things not liked are discouraged.
- No personal attacks: Reviews aren't for harassment on authors or other users. Any personal attacks in reviews will be deleted.
- No Spoilers: Do not purposely spoil a series in a review. Mark spoilers with the markdown tag:
<spoiler></spoiler>
.
Ban and Warning System
To maintain a safe community, MangaPark has enforced warnings & bans for rule violations. This section aims to inform users of the warning & ban system to provide clarification on consequences.
Warnings
- Warnings are a reminder: Minor rule violations result in warnings, (reminders) which will be given instead of an immediate ban.
- What warnings look like: Warnings are usually given in Messages by a developer. To avoid impersonation, moderators can be identified with the
mod
icon next to their username. - Warnings do not guarantee a ban: Warnings serve as friendly reminders so users do not repeat any unwanted actions, the moderation team does not ban based on how many warnings a user has but the severity of a user's actions. If a user disregards warnings and repeats unwanted actions multiple times then the moderation team holds the right to ban that user.
Bans
- Bans are based on malicious intent: Users might be banned based on the maliciousness of an action. Warnings may not be given if the user is intentionally breaking rules or doing an unwanted action.
- All bans are permanent: It is difficult to get banned, all bans are permanent unless they are a mistake. All appeals sent will be ignored.
- Ban evasion is forbidden: Evasion is the act of escaping something, in this case it is a ban. In the case of ban evasion, the user who did this action might face a ip ban.
Moderators
- Moderators will not engage in public disputes: Moderators will not settle or involve themselves in arguments. Instead, any instance of public arguments (e.g. comments, reviews) will be deleted and met with a warning.
- Reporting a Moderator: If a user encounters a Moderator abusing their power, they are encouraged to report it to MP DEV 002.
This is not possible since there is only one moderator
Moderator views are of their own and do not embody MangaPark as a whole
