CHANGES MADE AND WHATS TO COME
Again, this is a pretty broad topic so I'll try to break this down as best as possible!
CHANGES MADE
WHY DID YOU MOVE TO BUNDLRS?
This is actually a little funny ngl.
At the time when I was first starting to use rentry, I thought it was great! and I still love it, hence why I came back. But I wanted to keep learning. I wanted to keep practicing coding, and I wanted to start applying that to my pages. And as we all know, rentry doesn't support HTML. So after a couple of months of building up my coding skills and my following, I was finally like "okay, I think I wanna find a new place to host my hoard!"
And then I discovered sentrytwo.com / bundles.cc! I saw people's webpages and while it wasn't exactly HTML, it was a great starting point for me to start applying what I was teaching myself! So I transferred everything over to bundles, and was happy.
and then a couple weeks later a big glitch happened where people's URLs were deleted, and then shortly after hkau shut down bundles.
So then I found out bundlrs.cc existed, and with a confused heart, I moved to that and had to restart ALL over.
(this is NOT hkau shade btw and do not take it as such)
AND... WHY DID YOU STOP USING IT?
Bundlrs.cc is a great website, and I think it did a lot in helping me in learn how to better code HTML and CSS.
But there are some bugs. These bugs are minor, and they shouldn't interfere much with the average person, but it interferes with my work. A lot. But I tried to ignore it for the sake of "learning more". Then it got worse. Sometimes to formatting doesn't work, a lot of times I'll edit it, and then the edit doesn't appear when I post it even though it's still in the code, and when I got tired of it to the point of quitting, it straight up doesn't even let me delete my own pastes now, so now I'm just not using it anymore, which is nice to admit because it was never my first choice to begin with.
sentry and bundles are back up, but I honestly also kinda missed rentry. especially since it got updated, it's exactly how I wanted it to be before I got more familiar with coding.
WHAT'S TO COME
SO, WHAT'S THE FUTURE OF YOUR HOARD GOING TO LOOK LIKE?
Great question!
First of all, as we just discussed, the hoard is now going to be mostly hosted on rentry for a while! For now, you can assume this is going to be a permanent desicion, because I've been doing way to much switching around, and I need some permanency for this new year!
Second, I'm saying "mostly" for a reason. As you can see, the new layout I have for the main page still includes codes! I'm currently in search of a good website I can use to host and display these codes because as mentioned previously, we all know rentry doesn't support HTML. In the meantime I will not be hosting it on bundlrs or sentry. When I find a good website to host it on, I shall definitely let you know!
WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU LOST INTEREST?
This is a very hypohetical question, but I feel like it's important to talk about regardless. So, let's say that for whatever reason, I get sick of the hoard, the tumblr, everything like that. What happens then?
First thing that would happen is that I'd announce it. I'm not leaving you guys in the dark about that again, which I still feel a little bad about. I hypothetically don't owe you my activity, but the least I could do for those who are genuinely interested is give people a heads up.
Second thing that would happen may depends, because this moves us to who would run it. To be completely honest, I kind of don't really trust anyone to have access to my hoards. Any of them. This includes the hazard hoard and gloomy hoard, that includes all of it. Even if I no longer update those hoards, I still care for them a lot and have put over 100+ updates into those hoards. The effort I've put into them could completely fall apart in the wrong hands, and I hope you understand why I wouldn't let someone else inherit that privilege. It would have to be someone I extremely trust, and someone who's familiar with both rentry coding and HTML and CSS, and so far I don't have anyone I trust like that.
So if no-one is inheriting the hoards, then what exactly is happening?
Absolutely nothing.
Yep, that's it.
I keep the hoard up, the Tumblr stays up, they simply will just be inactive.
