Usage Notes:
The terms "masc" and "femme" / "fem" refer to masculinity and femininity, respectively.
I prefer base masc terms, which means that I want to be referred to in the masculine sense in relation to others. For example, I want you to call me "brother" or "boyfriend" or "boy." I never want to be called "sister" or "girl."
I prefer fem terms to only be used in non-direct situations, such as compliments and whatnot. For example, "pretty" instead of its masc counterpart, "handsome."
Examples:
He looks so pretty today.
My brother sings beautifully in choir.
That boy over there, his name is Rat.
REMINDER: This is my specific relationship with gendered terms, so don't expect this to be the same for anyone else. However, if you do relate to this, I encourage you to link this explanation!
