∎∎∎ basics ∎∎∎

Ship: Meursault x Hestia
Fandom: Limbus Company
Ship Status: Selective Sharing

A classic "coworkers to lovers" sort of story, except both participants are autistic in different ways. On the surface, it looks like a slow burn, and it is in a few ways; these two don't actually get together until after Intervallo 3.5, and there's some awkward footwork both of them partake in just to understand each other.

Even so, they're a strong couple under the surface.

NOTES:

  • I'm very much more casual about shipping Meursault with other characters, so I guess you could say my selectivity is a 5/10 on most days, maybe rising to a 7/10 at most.

Hestia is the youngest daughter of Color Fixer Kronos (also known as the Silver Watch), and the only child of a Fixer known as Rhea. To keep things focused on Hestia, we'll just be short with it and say that Kronos was disappointed with Hestia after she was born, then walked out on her mother.

Rhea, who loved her daughter immediately, worked to try and provide a better life for Hestia. She brought Hestia out of District T's Backstreets, moving to District Q's Backstreets where the two of them could settle down. Hestia was very close to her mother, and her early life was a life of happiness and bliss.

Tragedy struck when Hestia was eight years old, when an attack on their home resulted in Rhea losing her life to defend it. For the years after that point, Hestia scraped and clawed her way to survive on her own. She performed odd jobs of all sorts in order to keep food on the table and a roof over her head. However, her biggest dream was to save and move into a Nest, so she could truly have a place to be safe.

Due to her conflicting feelings regarding her mother's career as a Fixer, she was hesitant to register as one until her mid-twenties. Shortly after receiving acceptance from the Hana Association, though, Limbus Company arrived and recruited her.

∎∎∎ how the ship sailed ∎∎∎

In the streets of District K's Nest, chaos had struck thanks to a Distortion appearing. While Hestia was aware of the White Nights and Dark Days, this was her first time actually hearing of the Distortion Phenomenon, let alone seeing a Distortion for herself. Faust and Meursault, however, were able to explain the basics of this strange occurrence.

In an attempt to help the restaurant's owner, Eunbong, return to normal, a cooking competition was held. Ryōshū recruited Hestia among her members, while Gregor recruited Meursault among his own. When it turned out their "head chefs" were terrible cooks, things began to get messy.

Hestia and Sinclair attempted to make a dish, only for the other members of Ryōshū's team to boss them into sheer irritation. Shortly thereafter, the sound of a plate being smashed caught Hestia's attention; Heathcliff had smashed a plate of food into Meursault's face!

...and Meursault verbally decimated his teammates before taking over the kitchen.

Hestia found herself fascinated as Meursault oversaw the kitchen. While Eunbong stated something was missing in the otherwise-perfect result of this takeover, Hestia's own heart was captured nonetheless.

She approached Meursault afterwards, confessing her affection, not actually expecting to be received with anything but a no...but Meursault surprised her by stating he accepted her feelings and wished to partake in a relationship.

∎∎∎ headcanons ∎∎∎

These will be primarily headcanons already posted to Twitter/Bluesky, just as a sort of compilation piece. No tweet links because I'd be here 5ever.
To sort of space things out a little neater, bold are sections, italics are subsections where it's multiple parts of a theme.

Meursault's Canto isn't out yet, so things could massively change when they do. We're like, three Cantos away as of 3/30/2025.

General Headcanons:

  • Hestia listens to all of Meursault's explanations without rushing or interrupting him. If he speaks more than a few words, it's typically pretty important.
  • Meursault picks up Hestia a lot for functionality reasons.
  • Hestia is the cuddly one of the relationship; Meursault doesn't mind if it's off the clock.
  • Hestia draws like she's 12. Meursault draws flawlessly, just missing a little sumthin sumthin.
  • Meursault has to herd Hestia into relaxing, but when she’s upset, it’s essentially a job itself to ensure she won’t try pushing through her upset by working to the bone.

Missing each other:

  • Hestia has a much more aloof approach to expressing "missing her boyfriend", but everyone can tell she's thinking about Meursault when she's quieter.
  • On the other end of things, Meursault does the little clink-clink thing with his gauntlets if he's missing Hestia. I headcanon it as a sign of when he's anxious, and, well...sometimes your girlfriend not being present is anxiety-inducing!

Identity-related Headcanons:

  • While most of Meursault's IDs aren't exactly the clingy sort, N Corp Großhammer is an exception. He shows his care by skulking around and looming over Hestia, which most definitely made her fear for her life a little at first.

∎∎∎ trivia ∎∎∎

A little section for trivia, although a good portion might be more related to Hestia directly than not.

  • Pre-Sinner, Hestia had a few names and characterizations thrown at a wall before she solidified. Names included Jen and Razzy, and their personalities weren't as colorful as Hestia's even way back when. Hestia stuck, and I began to expand on her from there.
    • However, with the name "Hestia" sticking, I now had a source. So, I went ahead and made her a Sinner, with the Greek goddess Hestia as her source...which doesn't have much anyway, so I had to make do.
