Be entrepreneurial dragon.
Find out the little people really want to get close to you.
You saw dollar signs in eyes.
First part of day: Petting zoo.
You're not a morning dragon anyway.
People literally pay to rub and shine your scales.
You let the children slide down your wings and tail.
Photo op with the family by your muzzle? That'll be $5.
Free for hot single women, Make-A-Wish kids, or particularly kind guests.
An hourly fire breath show helps attract more guests.
In the afternoon, they pay to ride atop your back.
All you do is walk through a nice, scenic part of the countryside you did every day before you started this gig.
Literally getting paid to exercise, lmao.
A little chat with your riders helps pass the time too. The little ones love that.
The seats and harnesses your helpers tie to your back are a bit annoying, but the easy money is worth it.
And what human can pass up a dragon flight at dusk?
Hundreds of dollars for a 20 minute flight, and the humans have you booked three years out.
Some even clap and tip you afterwards!
Easiest hoard you've ever made.
each "hoard" becomes a city the dragon owns
now not only does she amass gold and jewels, but resources, too
raids other towns and cities for books, farming supplies, equipment, etc
but mainly to gather more skilled micros to add to her hoard
the micro-in-charge runs the integration operations
builds statues, theme parks, highway systems, and "model" trains that are built with the purpose of being fun to watch by the dragon
brings other dragon friends over to look at her hoard
will trade micros with other dragons for a couple decades at a time
once a year (almost a bothersome rate for a dragon) the city delivers to her all the death-row inmates which she devours

Ancient dragon rises again
Time to rule over humanity once more
Demand offerings to your hoard
Get ignored
Threaten to raze their villages
Get what you now know is called a "missile" to the face
And that those are called "cities"
Clearly these mortals need to learn what they are dealing with
Time to get serious
Flying metal things all over the sky every time you try to attack
How the hell do they know where you are going to be before you even get there?
Get curb stomped every fight
You haven't managed to stop even a single human
Where the hell did they get magic like this?
You had never heard of this "technology" arcane art
You are treated like a joke
One day of those flying things is now approaching you
Threatens you to stop by... showing you moving pictures?
Show projects pictures on the ground of what else they can do
Your heart nearly stops when they show off something called a "nuke"
Only one who learned what they were dealing with was you
Sitting on your meager hoard
Trying to not think about how it's never going to get bigger
After days of moping decide to clear your head by going for a walk
Run into another dragon
At least you can have some conversation
"Just how in the world did we feel so far to these pathetic stupid little humans? Our hoards will be forever held back now because of these wretched creatures."
"Wait, what do you mean you like them?"
"Wait, what do you mean they are friendly to you?"
"Wait, why would you willingly visit their cities?"
"Wait, what do you mean your hoard has never been bigger?"
"WAIT, WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY JUST GAVE IT TO YOU?"

She sniffed deeply of your lair, and winced.
"Prithee, tell me you at least keep them away from thy den!"

"It's fine, Grandma."
"They only come in when I invite them."

"Invite?! Young drake, you forget thy place! Order them!"

"Yes, Grandma."

You flipped the dial with a large claw, bringing your home's lights on.
"Man enchantments!" Grandma gasped.

"It's electricity. I can explain how it works if you want."

"Well I never..." The elder dragon mused.
You waited patiently as she explored your "man-cave" as the architects put it.
"Why, any one of these contraptions could be spying upon you." She declared, turning up her nose at the comforts you had installed.

"There's no cameras, Grandma. They need a camera to do that."

"Why, in my day, an all-seeing eye could be the size of a coin."
You nodded, unsure what she was talking about but not wanting to seem rude.
The elder dragon sniffed out your bed, and poked around the massive quilt and mattress.
Mattresses, really. It was dozens of human ones pushed together to accommodate you.
"Young poppet, where is thy riches? You boasted of spoils beyond measure."

"It's at the bank, Grandma."

"Forsooth, I say, what a sad state for all dragonkind." Grandma scolded, tutting.
"Humans pilfered thy wealth and my offspring is none the wiser!"

"They keep it safe, Grandma. I invested some too. In the stock market."

"In vest?" Stockades and markets? You speak riddles, Grandson."
You sighed.
You really should pay someone to explain all this.
