Self-shipping or selfshipping is to ship oneself with a canon character. Self-shippers do not all identify as fictoromantic/fictosexual, but many do. In Japanese fandom, yumejoshi, "dreaming girl" is used by female self-shippers! (Yumedanshi, for male.) There's a lot more about the culture if you want to know but to make it simple, here are the basic meaning for terms you can often see. Other than the one I just explained of course.

Most of terms can be use for familial or plantonic feelings as well.

F/o stands for Fictional other! Basically the character you yume. some people use s/o (significant other) for characters as well if they are a 'riako' or 'soulbonder'

Sharing status? Some people are possessive over their f/o or s/o and are not comfortable with seeing 'doubles'. Those people are nonsharing (ns). Some people are selective with who they are comfortable seeing selfship with their f/o or s/o, they're selective sharing(ss). Some people are open to sharing! They're sharing(s). Though some people can be hyper sharing(hs), where they are happy, and possibly seek out 'doubles' to befriend! Some people are mirror sharing(ms), this means that reflect the sharing status of their 'doubles'! If a double is sharing, they are sharing towards that person as well! but if the double is nonsharing, they'll be nonsharing towards that person.

What are doubles? A double is someone who yume the same character as the person speaking! For example, I'm a sigma riako. If someone is a sigma yume, they are my double (and I am theirs!)

Other than yumes, there are also riako and soulbonder! Don't get me wrong, yume, riako and soulbond are almost completely different things, especially soulbond! As explained before about yume.. Riakos are similar but.. more serious if you were to say it simply. Riako means 'real love' which means they're genuinely in love with their f/o or s/o. Yumes are for fun but most riako takes their relationship seriously, almost like a real relationship. They may not sound very different, but oh they feel very different. Riako are usually used by females and Gachikoi are usually used by male. However, the term is gender neutral, really. For soulbond, as the name said.. they are soulbonded to their s/o. Soulbonds are spiritual beliefs, and is an actual relationship from two people in different universes. I can't say much because I'm not a soulbonder myself but it's much more serious and is a two sided relationship. Also I might use soulbond and soulbound wrong I barely know the difference between the two words so forgive me if i do (feel free to correct me!!) I'm not an expert when it comes to this since I'm not one, however soulbonders often are in the yume community, as their partner is fictional in this world.

holy yap.. but yeah. there are more backgrounds and stuff for the culture but that's all you need to know for the basics! i almost forgot, click here to go back to the main page.. haha.
