Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency with which you need to manually vacuum. Find one that has good navigation, can clean stairs and corners, and has a large dust bin that needs emptying only once in a while.

There are models that can mop and charge themselves this is an option essential for families with children or pets. The top performers in our tests have great ability to overcome obstacles.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO are the same robots, but they differ in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. That makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin as it gets full.

Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors, and they are very good in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we evaluated the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include clearing out any toys or clutter it may come across. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it left off. Battery life is about an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes three hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot and comes with all the latest features. It is self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot through the app or via voice.

In our testing the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our top choice and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin that removes major maintenance sources and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room and sweep a specific space. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums that are cordless and look like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model is a sports car. auto vacuum cleaner enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then releases fresh air into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction modes to suit the task being performed. It is able to swiftly switch between handheld and floor vacuum and vice versa.

The model also comes with docks that charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours, and gives users easy access to two attachments and an wand clip. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's main drawback is its limited running time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a typical, not exceptional, battery-powered vacuum's run time. That's still enough run time to clean most of a home that's average size however, it's not enough to get every single spot (though an additional run-through often can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to spend on the latest model of robot. It was able to remove the majority of types of debris and sizes in our tests and would often go over the same area several times for a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice touch.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and J7+ Series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it often will run out of battery before making it back to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects, as it has fewer parts that need regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries strips and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy and has a stronger motor, and performs notably better on floors that are bare and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a greater variety of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a brand is found on all kinds of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the top robotic vacuum and mop makers. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app provides a range of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings and more. It's simple to comprehend and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it didn't do particularly well with higher-up objects like cords or socks which was a disappointment. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we've tested and could be a problem for some shoppers.

The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature lets you to check in on your children or pets when you are away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that's self-emptying, which helps keep the robot's trash bin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Unlike other robotic vacuums, that are specifically designed for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They come with a wide cleaning path and a larger dust bin that can hold 2X more debris than the competition to keep the cleaning area free of debris for the longest period of time. Plus, they include two side sweepers that clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which senses if it's picking up dirt or debris on the surface and then automatically adjusts the power level. It also includes a smart application that lets you view the virtual map and control the functions and schedules. Plus, you can monitor the vacuum's battery status and send it back to its dock to charge at the push of a button. The app allows you to modify the LEDs on the top of the vacuum so that you can determine where it is focused or if it's stuck.

The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually in the event of need. My living room rug for instance has a dark-colored border that can trip up some other robots. The HRV 425BL however was able to continue to move across the border without ever registering the edge. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
